I think it can be both. I don't doubt she had mental illness but I'm not convinced that's the reason for her actions. Millions of people suffer mental illnesses but we're not all out there killing children.

It’s almost like things affect people in different ways. Because some women do harm their children due to post natal depression. And some people with other mental illnesses do harm other people.

That’s like saying “I had a cold and never had a headache, so nobody with a cold can have a headache”

It’s equally tragic as 3 children being strangled? No.

Its all tragic. Its not a competition.

She sent her husband out on a fool's errand-an errand that she had earlier timed by looking it up on her phone.

She then led her her three children down into the basement.

Were they frightened at this stage or had she told them they were going to play a game or look for something?

She took the first child, while the other two looked on and strangled the child with an exercise band.

The child must have been terrified, begging and she carried on while the cries of the two children who were waiting their turn to be murdered, cried and screamed .

When she had finished and knew the child was dead, she moved on to the second child and, with an exercise band, strangled the child.

She then took the terrified third child and strangled them with an exercise band.

All this shit about about whether she was evil or mad. She may have been both.

It doesn't matter a shit and, if it is found to matter a shit, then a lot more women and children will die at the hands of men who offer up the same defence.

I find it interesting that she is in court trying to defend herself.

I, and I imagine many many mothers who, if they had done this evil act, would have no interest in defending themselves; would just want to either die or wouldn't care about the rest of their life.

She does.

She is a cunt. An evil cunt. She may be a mad, evil cunt but cunt is what she is and I wouldn't give a toss if her arse was introduced to the electric chair and, if she is repentant, nor should she!

Edited

What an odd take!

no one is condoning the act and saying it’s fine but it’s pretty clear she wasn’t an ‘evil’ person. Although the term evil has no place in a court of law. She’s not denying what she did.

the reason the case has resonated with so many women is that so many women (myself included) can see parts of our own story in hers, how many women have begged for help from partners and then to shrug and walk away, begged for help from health professionals to be dismissed, expected to just get on with it etc

You shouldn’t make sh*t up like that.

She’s confessed to murdering her children. The case isn’t about who murdered them. It’s about whether she was suffering with psychosis and therefore wasn’t in control of her actions.

Agree. The conspiracy lot are out in force.

Getalittle · 04/09/2026 20:56

KellyK2026 · 04/09/2026 20:43

But I think that is what people aren’t understanding. She has already been found guilty of killing her children, that’s not up for debate. The question is whether she is guilty of murder, in which case she will spend her life in prison, OR will she be found guilty of killing but not murder due to mental health, in which case she will spend her life in a mental institute. No way is she wanting to or can get out of it. The question is where she will be spending her time. In a place with people like Watts or in a place where she can receive help.

Edited

That’s not true though. If she is found not guilty of first degree murder she will go to a hospital, however, she could be out in a year or two. She definitely wouldn’t be there for life.

I understand it perfectly well- I’ve watched the whole trial from start to finish. There is no misunderstanding here.

Why though?
Wasn’t he out the house when it happened?
How would she not know he had done it?

Apparently yes, but many, many inconsistencies in what happened, how it happened etc etc

I know everyone reacts differently to grief, but who goes hiking three weeks after their three children are murdered and writes a review complaining about a 17 dollar fee? Hiking yes, clear your head, find peace with nature, but a review and a complaint? He was also with the woman he is now married too.

That’s just one example of his very strange behaviour. In my opinion.

You clearly don’t understand mental illness then.

many people who commit suicide are outwardly happy the days before because they know their anguish will soon end. Lots of suicides take a lot of planning but it doesn’t mean the person was of sound mind.

Planning and “acting normal” are not signs that the person was ok - quite the opposite.

Surely acting normal suggests you are of some sound mind? It doesn’t mean you’re not suicidal or significantly depressed, because you hate your life but you don’t want other people to know so you pretend all is well. That’s not my understanding of psychosis.

Ive worked on a psych ward. People experiencing active psychosis dont run around foaming at the mouth, arms flailing and screaming gibberish.

Ive known many a psychotic patient who managed to hold it together for a ward round and flatly deny they were hearing voices and managed to be very calm and rational but challenge them in any way and it would be obvious they were responding to hallucinations etc

Many people experiencing psychosis are able to hide it for short periods of time out of fear

If only Wayne Couzens had thought of this defence and every other murdering fucker.

After all, he was flashing his penis for days before he killed Sarah...surely evidence he was off his head. He didn't have to foam at the mouth or talk gibberish-it was happening internally.

What a load of dangerous hogwash,

If it was mental illness, it was a strangely carefully planned case of loss of control, with the unusual ability to talk calmly to her husband in the middle of the murders and know she shouldn’t tell him what she was doing. I find it very hard to understand how people can read the details and still believe she didn’t chose to murder her poor children.

people with post partum psychosis often are very articulate and seem eerily normal, in fact that’s how most mental illness and even severe sleep deprivation presents

even if she did ‘choose to’ the full consciousness of her ‘choice’ is brought into question by the fact it is well documented that she was begging for mental health support and told her husband and mother she was having thoughts of harming them and herself compounded by witness and character testimony that she was a loving mother who was deeply struggling.

This woman did not commit suicide. And, so far is she now from not caring about her life, that she sits offering up a defence that she knows soft headed slope heads will swallow.

I'm sure she has had plenty of opportunity to finish the job on herself and yet...lo, she is still here. Must have changed her mind then and can live with what she has done.

I actually agree with you on all of those points. There is a distinction between them.m and Im not saying LC wasn’t very unwell.

But, in this situation I think the victims should be prioritised. I think even with the mitigating circumstances of mental health, the law should protect and be punitive when it comes to murder and taking the lives of 3 children who won’t get to exist. And it was horrifying. She could have done it in their sleep or kept them together but she wasn’t thinking of them at all and the suffering and fear she caused them. It was definitely madness but it was extremely cruel.

I actually question why she would want to be absolved of this crime to be honest.

What?!

You haven't seen the endless youtube videos, tiktoks etc from (mostly) women who are obsessively trying to twist any and every fact of the case, and/or outright fabricate stuff, into an indication that it was the husband who either killed the children himself, got someone else to kill them, or somehow influenced Lindsay to kill them?

There is no absolution in a case like this, it’s a court not a church.

The question is simply whether she goes to a psychiatric hospital or prison.

To me, to find her guilty of murder would be to put her in the same category as Chris Watts, who intentionally killed his kids, his wife and unborn child to start a new life with his mistress. He then lied about it and tried to cover it up.

Lindsay is not that. She is someone who repeatedly asked and begged for help. She asked to be hospitalised. She tried every medication professionals gave her. She told them she had thoughts of harming herself and had intrusive thoughts about her children. She had no motive. She tried to kill herself. When she didn’t die she wanted the doctor to agree to a DNR so that she would not be resuscitated (they refused to do that).

To me, they are not the same. One is a cold hearted killer. The other is mentally ill.

It's short-hand for "A woman kills her children. Let's find a man to blame."

What?!

Makkka · 04/09/2026 20:35

Aluna · 04/09/2026 20:26

As I said very few people thought LL was innocent at the time, so that’s only with hindsight.

Many want LC hung drawn and quartered due to the emotive evidence. When children are murdered is someone needs to pay. And that’s the problem with hearing such cases in a court with full media coverage.

If LC was psychotic she is innocent of murder in the first degree. despite having killed her children. In this country it would be on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Edited

That’s what I was getting at before though, despite most people thinking LL was guilty I wasn’t convinced. When it was brought up on here, the emotive nature of it caused arguments etc…and it felt like people wanted someone to blame and she was it. I do think public opinion has shifted now though.

This time however, I’m not convinced she’s as innocent as some people believe her to be. From what I’ve seen so far, I see a very unhappy lady who wanted to take her own life and she was let down but I’m not convinced she didn’t have a clue what she was doing.

I don't think being mentally ill excuses her to be honest. Many women suffer post partum depression. Some women suffer post partum psychosis. Very very few of them MURDER their children.

She knew she was unwell. She had thought previously that she was capable of hurting them. She could have walked away and didn't

She did literally tell a Dr who sent her away?

I'm not sure you understand the gravity of 'psychosis'. It's a complete loss of touch with reality. She didn't want always because she was ....in psychosis.

Hmmm but she is putting up a defence now though? She brought this to a lengthy awful very public trial, her choice even though she knows she is responsible for killing her children - so she isn't this defenceless unsupported victim, in my opinion I think its quite a audacious move after strangling your three children to death.
