And his connection with Patrick Clancy is what, exactly? Other than happening to share the same moderately common surname?

You’re clearly a man with nothing better to do. Aren’t there any red pill forums you can post on?!

Let’s say it was Patrica Clancy. Not showing up to her kids murder trial. On holiday, new partner, pregnant. Put 3 kids in 1 urn and made over 1mil. You seriously telling me she’d be getting the same treatment as Patrick?
he knew the drugs she was on. I would never. But then I’m a woman, so I know the double standards

What you posted earlier depends on whether the person told the other parent that they will be violent towards the dc. Did that happen?

Sewingbeedamned · 04/09/2026 22:50

There is a really clear divide between people where MH is an issue and where it is not, and how they respond after seems key. The case I mentioned above was Andrea Yates in 2001 - another terrible case of children being killed and there was Dena Schlosser too, a few years later, both readily admitted what they had done, and were found not guilty by reason of insanity. Yates is still in hospital and apparently turns down the review she has to be offered every year which would give her the chance to leave the hospital.

As opposed to Susan Smith who I also remember (I was in the States at the time of her trial) who lied to cover up the crime and claimed it was a car jacking gone wrong, and wanted to kids gone because she wanted to start a new relationship with someone who did not want her children.

I don’t buy the mental illness cover story. She killed her kids.

I’ve had female family members who have had psychosis, one in particular is a revolving door patient. She’s had ECG, lithium, all the heavy duty meds, all the counselling and she is still incredibly unwell a lot of the time. Diagnosed a schizophrenic, another family member bipolar.

During one of her episodes, she was convinced she was a cat. Another time she was very distressed as she believed she had no head and was walking around headless. I could go on and on about her delusions, voices, hallucinations etc. She’s never killed anyone though. The large majority of mentally unwell peoples don’t murder people brutally.

Shes mad AND bad. Evil.

It depends on whether the person is showing signs they’ll be violent, did she?

I suffered a severe mental health crises after the birth of my first child. I ended up taking myself to hospital and literally begging for help. I felt like I wasn’t in control of my own thoughts. I honestly felt like I was going completely crazy it was terrifying. I was assessed by an emergency mental health team, I couldn’t even put my own shoes on. I couldn’t dress/ shower or brush my hair. I wasn’t eating. I was in a constant state of fight or flight. And the emergency team first deemed me not to meet the threshold for being mentally unwell enough. I then ended up back at hospital again, begging for help and eventually I was put on psychiatric drugs and a nurse came to visit me daily at home. Looking back I should have been sectioned and I should not have been left alone with my baby.

Before I went through that experience I too would have had a very different perspective on post partum mental health. Thankfully the next time I had a baby I was absolutely fine.

This case is just absolutely tragic for everyone involved.

If a woman had left a mentally ill man with her babies she’d be done for negligent homocide. Equal rights equal responsibility. He had a duty of care to those children too

It depends on whether the person is showing signs they’ll be violent, did she?

Sewingbeedamned · 04/09/2026 22:39

Does anyone remember the case of the woman who killed all 5 of her children - also in the middle of psychosis. From what I remember, they were a very religious family, but different from this, the husband did not do anything to help or support her and just kept telling her she could cope? Andrea something?

wordler · 04/09/2026 22:38

I think Kevin Reddington did an excellent job of showing how poor the investigation into what happened was.

The only person who says that Lindsay said she had killed her children was the husband. The EMTs at the scene say sne couldn’t talk, medical professionals testified that the sort of injury she had would have made it impossible to talk.

If she was trying to overdose on pills why would she have crushed them up - surely you’d just take them normally?

None of her prints or DNA on the bands used to strangle the children?

i don’t remember the full facts - but The judge also bought the Clancy house at a ridiculously discounted price too if I remember correctly but please fact check this.
Patrick also had family in the police

I'm sure you can provide evidence of your claim that Patrick Clancy had family members in the police.

I absolutely agree. The rabid witch hunt by obsessive tinfoil-hatted conspiracy theorist lunatics trying to make it all the husband's fault is detracting from the very real issues surrounding postnatal mental health. The care she got from some of the professionals she sought help from was questionable at best and downright scandalous at worst.

No one is trying to say the man did it.
i said if he’d been a woman who left her kids with someone in that state, he’d have been done for negligent homicide.

Women so rarely kill and especially their children that is almost unfathomable to us that a women, let along a mother could. It’s part of the myth or the precarious pedestal of motherhood

I fear the endless hunting to prove the man did it, might make us feel better but it misses the point and it might mean that we a society desperately miss the lesson on maternal expectations and mental health that this case must teach us.

The defense lawyer asked to split the trial back in March - so that the first trial would be whether she was guilty at all.

And then if found guilty the second trial would determine criminal responsibility based on her mental state.

That he tried to do it that way indicates that he thought the prosecution’s case was very weak in terms of evidence.

The judge refused to split it like that.

To split it is almost to say once she’s found guilty… Same witnesses, same timelines and evidence. It made no sense. That’s why it was denied. That was a case of grasping at straws! He went with the insanity because he knew that was his best chance of winning.

No the judge did not buy the house.

A DA unrelated to the case bought it.

Thank you for fact checking.
if only the rest of the posters here were as diligent with this before piling on a woman who hasn’t yet been found guilty and under American law is actually presumed innocent until found so

Dont know the case at all

please link if tslking about a specific case

The very fact you murder your children means that you are mentally unwell

those of us who are mentally well get pushed to the limit but we go no where near murder or even harming

I don’t know the details of this case, but I disagree with the idea that ‘the very fact you murder your children means you’re mentally unwell’. The belief that mothers, & I do mean mothers specifically, because people rarely say this about fathers, are somehow incapable of harming their own children is comforting, but completely false. A mother can kill her children for the same wide range of motives that drive any other murderer. The act itself doesn’t automatically prove mental illness.

You don’t for one second think this would be a better defence than she did it but she’s not criminally responsible? You tell me why her lawyer has not chosen this defence for her? From the very start why did he not see all that you’ve figured out?

Are you far more clever than he is? Or do you think he’s seen the amount of evidence against her and chose a whole different route to go down? Just because you have not seen the evidence does not mean it’s not there.

But he did not get to choose the charges that were brought against her? She said she did it - that is not in question. His argument is she was mentally unwell which is why she cannot be found of first degree murder, which is what the DAs office decided to charge her with.

Its not clear why they chose this route rather than a different charge. But DAs get elected and are often building their future political careers during their term of office. So a tough stance can be reflective of this.

He actually did apply to have the questions separated in the trial - so they could address the question of whether she actually did it FIRST and then, if found to have committed the acts beyond reasonable doubt, the question around insanity would be raised. His motion was denied and they were covered within the same trial, so he had to walk the line of both highlighting reasonable doubt she committed the acts (which it looks like he had a 91% success rate with) AND the insanity defence. So yes, it was possibly a better defence and one he wanted to run separately based on HIS application to separate the issues.
