I woke up with an icepick headache that lasted 1 to 2 secs. Occuring on and off every 30 to 60 mins around the right side of my head. Late afternoon my scalp on the same side felt tender to touch. Woke up fine this morning.

I've e consult my doctor and waiting to hear back. Has anyone had icepick headaches that lasted more than a day with scalp tenderness to touch?

I guess with temporal arteritis the symptoms are more persistent and severe.

@Wajeehakamran he said unlikely to be TA but I have health anxiety so I still worry.

I’ve had brief stabbing headaches described as ice-pick headaches, but the scalp tenderness would make me want to get it checked rather than assume that’s all it is. Good that you’ve already contacted your doctor, especially as it was happening repeatedly. Hopefully they can reassure you once they’ve heard the full symptoms.

Checked by the doctor and assured that TA is unlikely. Now waiting for blood tests.

Has anyone had similar headache with mild scalp tenderness? I would like to read other people's experiences and if it happen again I can feel less anxious.

Thanks.

I'm 56 btw. I have no other symptoms but want to rule out temporal arteritis.
