I had an affair and I want my affair partner to be discovered

Had an affair with a married man who has young children. I’m also married with young children.

Since it ended recently, he has gone back to his wife and kids and is living happily like nothing ever happened. I know his wife to say hi to as our kids are at the same school. Everytime I see her it kills me. I can’t bear knowing that he has ‘got away with it’ and hasn’t taken any accountability for his actions.

These feelings are made worse by the fact that my marriage has suffered so badly as a result. I haven’t yet told my husband, but I know I am going to have to if I want any chance of saving the marriage. I can’t continue living dishonestly for the rest of our lives. I assume he will (rightly) want to divorce me. Everything inside me wants to tell my affair partner’s wife what has happened so that he can experience the pain I am experiencing. The bitterness I am feeling is so strong. I want him to be exposed. Should I tell her?

You need to grow up and leave this poor woman alone. Just stop being so horrid and move on

My marriage has suffered because I find it so difficult lying to his face. I’ve never cheated before and I don’t think I’m going to be able to live with the guilt if we stay together. That means that in all likelihood my husband will leave me, and (selfishly) I can’t bear the thought of my AP being allowed to carry on happily with his phoney life while mine implodes.

My marriage has suffered because I find it so difficult lying to his face.

Oh! So noble! Easy to drop your knickers and open your legs elsewhere, but not easy to live with the lies. You and you alone are the author of your own demise. Tell your husband and live with the consequences of your own choices. There is no need, other than to continue demonstrating your self-centredness, to drop a bomb into the other family. It will all come out in the wash anyway as soon as you try and clear your conscience.

Random321 · 30/08/2026 16:31

Maybe you're good company but lousy in bed?!

You just as bad as him. You want his wife to know but don't even have the decency to tell your husband!

Get therapy, you badly need it.

montysmaw · 30/08/2026 16:30

God, you really hate his wife don't you. Stoke her husband and now want to rub her face in it. Oh and out a bomb in his children's lives.
What a jewel of a human you are .

He ended the physical side, but he seems to want to keep the emotional side going. He says he loves me. Sends me essays on WhatsApp. Wants us to hang out without anything physical happening. It’s such a headfuck, what is he trying to achieve?

He ended the affair Telling you he wanted the emotional side was just a load of old fanny to keep you sweet.

He dumped you. Whatever you were offering was second class.

Be a grown up and suck it up. You're hurt, angry and feel like shit and now you want others to feel the same.

Your husband will think you are shit on his shoe, his wife will think you are shit on his shoe and soon, everyone will think you are shit on a shoe.

So, my advice is scrape some dignity together-don't let everyone know that when some one had had their fill of shagging you, he threw you threw you over.

By the way, are there texts where he ends it and where you you beg enough that he has to tell you he will always care for you?

Even if there aren't, he will tell the truth-that he shagged you-you were a pen emptier- had his fill, didn't want you any more and dumped you but you won't go quietly.

Just think about that. Think about everyone knowing that and your poor husband having to bear the shame of it. The shame of knowing that you would have gone on creeping about if he hadn't dumped you because you are someone he clearly feels is second best to his wife.

Keep quiet-if it's hard-tough shit. Look on that as your punishment and don't make a twat of yourself.

Lassofnorth · 30/08/2026 16:30

She may already know. They may be working on their marriage.

It’s honestly what’s happening. I don’t understand it either. He seems to have deep, genuine feelings for me. But he is struggling with the guilt of the physical aspect.

Well if he’s struggling with guilt enough to end the physical side of your affair, that suggests that he isn’t living happily guilt-free with his wife. If he was guilt-free he’d still be shagging you.

Leave his poor wife alone, she’s suffered enough.

So you think if you tell his wife she will leave him and then he wont have to live with this guilt that he’s struggling with and will run into your open arms and you will both live happily ever after. You wouldn’t give a thought to your husband then would you, the guilty feelings would vanish quickly,

Spouting nonsense about feeling guilty but yet continuing to engage with this man. Why don’t you block him ?

Imisscoffee2021 · 30/08/2026 16:28

You can't take the moral high ground from way down there.

How many posters on here know men who would end the physical side and keep the emotional side of an affair?🤔

Surely this is just another one of the many bullshit affair threads that have been on here recently.

You're no better than him. If you want to save your marriage say nothing. And certainly say nothing to his wife. Think of the old saying:
Least said, soonest mended

JaniieJones · 30/08/2026 16:25

God, tell her don't tell her whatever. He'll have another fling and she'll find out sooner or later.

I'd focus on telling your dh tbh and give him chance to have a better life.

Neveranynamesleft · 30/08/2026 16:25

Say nothing to her and say nothing to your husband, you will mess up too many people's lives by doing so. Time to move on with your life and put it all behind you.

DeterminedRat · 30/08/2026 16:23

I don't think that you are telling the truth here. I think that you want to tell her in the hopes that she will break up with him and he will come running to you. That probably isn't how it will go.

WyrdHag · 30/08/2026 16:22

Block the AP.

Get therapy.

Decide if you really still want your marriage.

Keep what happened to yourself...telling your DH and his wife purely for revenge or to assuage your own guilt is only going to achieve more pain and chaos for everyone, including all the kids involved.

Inherently selfish. The only reason anyone would ever do this to their spouse and children.

Yup. Cheating on their children every bit as much as they are cheating on their spouse.

TheJoyousHiker · 30/08/2026 16:22

Gemitf · 30/08/2026 16:18

Agree. It’ll probably make me feel great for a millisecond, and then everything will be 10000 times worse.
How can I stay married and not tell my husband though? Is it possible to have a happy marriage with this sort of secret?

Edited

You weren’t happy or you wouldn’t have had an affair. You were happy to have an affair until this man ended things. I bet if he hadn’t ended it, you’d still be continuing the affair without a thought for your husband or children. But now you’re still in an unhappy marriage with no affair partner and afraid to end your marriage because you don’t want to be without a man and have to forge your own path and deal with the aftermath of a separation.

I will never understand why people have affairs when they have young children. They were probably thrilled at one point to get pregnant and think of names and make Christmas special…and then they just throw it all away. For what?

Well that tells you all you need to know about his character. He’s keeping you sweet, so you don’t tell anyone, he has you where he wants you.

No wonder you can’t look at your husband aside from the physical side, sending paragraphs etc must be draining.

Block him, get therapy and focus on your family. If you can’t live with the guilt tell your husband but expect the marriage to end.

If the shoe was on the other foot would you want your husband to come clean? I know I would.

How does a mother with young kids find the time or get the opportunity for an affair - how does this stuff start I am intrigued 🤣

Ezzee · 30/08/2026 16:21

Gemitf · 30/08/2026 16:08

Revenge that he doesn’t seem to have the same guilt that I do - that he can just go back to his wife and kids and live a happy life - while I can’t look mine in the eyes.

But didn't feel guilty when you were shagging another man, you guilt is because you got rejected, you are yet again wanting to do something to hurt others...
Stuck it up OP that's what you get for being selfish, when you and he decided to fuck each other you didn't give a tiny one about how you'd fuck up others.

Here's another option. Say nothing to anyone about any of this, except a counsellor with whom you do lots of work on what made you do this and how you process it and move on. You need to get all your feelings out. I don't necessarily see that one or two families have to be smashed up in the process.

This 100pc
