My husband will “forget” to clean his teeth every now and again. He didn’t this morning, he sometimes won’t at night. Maybe once a month I notice? If I bring it up, we fight.

But I think it’s disgusting. He’s in his 50s. He is one of those people who thinks he’s immune to any kind of illness or bad thing to happen. I think he needs to go and get a hygiene clean from the dentist (in the 20 years we’ve been together, he’s never done this). His gums occasionally bleed, but I don’t watch him clean his teeth often!! Because I don’t want to! So don’t know how often they bleed.

Anyway. Aibu to find this gross?

I don't think missing brushing your teeth on a monthly basis (particularly as you suggest they do get cleaned at least once a day) is particularly awful tbh. It's not as though it was every day.

But how can you kiss him if he hasn't brushed his teeth?

I kiss my husband several times a day time so it would be a deal breaker for me.

My husbands a bit like this and I’ve no qualms about saying “you need to clean your teeth”. Even if he does get grumpy, I don’t let that stop me.

I forget to clean my teeth in the morning every six weeks or so. Yes it’s bad but not unforgivable surely?

Its disgusting and disrespectful to you

I woud find this really off putting.

Also, no matter how boring teeth cleaning is it is so essential. The potential problems, the pain, the cost of repairing damage to teeth is just not worth risking. Much better to maintain good oral hygiene.

If he has bleeding gums already and does nothing about it he will end up losing his teeth
