Blood all over carpet

My DD cut her foot on a pair of tweezers and blood went everywhere in our bedroom. We had to leave on holiday shortly afterwards so it remained like this for 2 weeks. I’ve tried vanish on it since we got back but not really making much difference. Loathe to use a professional cleaner as they will be expensive- Ddoes anyone know how I could get right of the stains, if at all! Thanks

I used a Dr Beckmann pet enzyme carpet shampoo when my Mum cut her leg and managed to spray blood everywhere on the carpet. By the time I got to the house a couple of weeks had passed. I worked on the blood spots and got most of them out, or at least faded enough not to notice. Something with hydrogen peroxide will also lift the blood out but may also take the colour out of the carpet.

I use this for blood stains in clothes. It is very good. Never tried it in carpet though:

Be careful if it's a wool carpet though with putting different stuff on it, the ones that are not wool are more cleanable.

I reckon you will need an enzyme based cleaner, but anything left for that long will be hard to shift I think.

Try a pet enzyme cleaner. You can get a spray from Pets At Home.

After 2 weeks you will likely need new carpet. I think anything else and you are in a hiding to nowhere.

All you can do is keep soaking with cold water and a suitable cleaner. Scrub and repeat. Did you really not do anything to it before you left?? In the current heatwave across much of the uk it will have baked itself in.

If it's blood, cold salt water. Usually I'd soak fabric but for carpet, maybe pout the salt over, wet (cold water) and leave for a few hours, then come back to scrub.

It's really important not to use hot water (hoping you haven't already), as that make blood almost impossible to clean.
