How long did it take to conceive with PCOS and metformin?

If you have PCOS how long did it take you to conceive. My friend has been taking metformin for two months. What month trying did you conceive on?

Creating this on behalf of a friend who is hoping for a reality check and knows I'm posting!

Is she ovulating each month? That's the main thing to know really. If her periods are roughly on time (say varying between 25 and 35 days or so each month) then it's likely she is ovulating regularly. If they are wilder than this, perhaps she isn't. She can confirm by starting to do BBT if she wants to.

There is no point someone saying "I'm overweight and was on Metformin and conceived in a perfectly normal six cycles" if they were ovulating and your friend isn't. Or vice versa!

my friend is wondering if anyone else just had metformin but were also overweight. How many cycles it took to conceive?

Diagnosed PCOS as no periods when I came off the pill, was trying for 7-8 by that point but only one period. After diagnosis I decided to wait 6 months before taking metformin. I followed an insanely strict PCOS diet protocol, and got pregnant within 6 weeks.

thank you for sharing your experiences. My friend carries extra weight and knew about the PCOS before TTC so has only tried for two cycles so far.

PCOS, but no Metformin. PCOS was controlled though (via keeping to a healthy weight and took inositol). After starting inositol I always ovulated every month, confirmed with BBT.

It's obviously a different situation if your friend is not a healthy weight or not ovulating, so not sure if my experience is helpful, but my children took between 1 month and 4 months to conceive. Three kids and a couple of miscarriages.

thank you for responding, I think the title is probably quite niche

I had metformin…but to honest it was the clomid which really helped get cycles back. And was pregnant very quick once on clomid and metformin together
