Autism and aggression

How do you take out an autistic child that is prone to violence and aggression? Does anyone have an autistic child that is aggressive? How do you manage to take them out? Please only comment if this is your situation as I need advice from people in this situation. I’m not looking for advice from people who have never experienced aggression with their autistic child, as I specifically want to know how other parents in the same situation manage it.
Thanks

It might be a good idea to post on the SEN board. They’ll be people on there who have been in similar situations. It tends to be a bit quieter over here.

I have an autistic teen, who is aggresive. Today I have been finger jabbed in my throat, and the chair I was sat on has been punched. I can not think of any reason, it is usually connected to PDA. But I made no demands. I rarely go anywhere. I haven’t left the house all summer. I’m sorry, I have no answers, just wanted to sympathise

Hi @babycakeywhat age? Are they aggressive with others or just familiar people?
My son is 7 and AuDHD, and was prone to lashing out, this year it has got significantly better.
I would go to quiet places, parks in the winter, soft play in the summer. I would always be right next to them, ready to intervene if I could see he was becoming dysregulated.

Twas ever thus. My son (now late 30's) used to bite me and try to strangle me when I was driving (he sat behind me in the car, and would undo his seatbelt). We just never went out. Impacted hugely on his younger brother. He was 'diagnosed' at 17 due to us (as a family) 'coping'.....but we weren't. Nowhere to turn. I think it is such a desperately hard condition to cope with, and affects all in the family and close friends (if you have any friends left!). Sorry, no answers. But my thoughts are with you.

Thank you, I just want a normal life, I sat here on the verge of tears. Im so jealous of people with NT children.
