Hi, I would like to start taking my 3 month old swimming. What does she need to wear and do I buy infant arm bands or something?
What did you guys do?
Thanks! 😊

DS was a bit older at 6 months, but we used one of these and the sheer joy in his face was incredible!

They are for babies 0-12 months, but does say the baby needs to be able to sit comfortably.

DS is 5 now and LIVES in the water. He learnt to swim unaided and dive to retrieve objects at the bottom of 1.5m pools just as he turned 4.

These look really cool! I think they would be great for her to get used to sitting in the water. Thanks! X

When you consider what time slot to book, note that your baby will likely sleep like a log after baby swim. The effect of getting cold and then warm again afterwards.

Make sure you wear clothes that are super easy to change in and out of (eg tracksuit you can pull on and off, slip on shoes) as you will want to change fast once you have changed your baby at the end.

Ahhhh! Good thinking about the nap time afterwards! Thanks! What time would you recommend? X

Not helpful, but are you taking her to a class? I want to start swimming with my. Early 3 month old but assumed it would be too cold!

I think I will enroll in a class but I’ve been watching some videos and I’m not ready for ducking heads under water etc yet! Makes me nervous seeing that! ConfusedSo will just take herself first to get into the swing of getting changed and into pool etc first! X

Buy one of these https://www.splashabout.com/collections/baby-swimming-happy-nappy-products-happy-nappy
With a disposable swim nappy underneath.
You don't need anything. The splash about neoprone change mat was helpful too.

@HollyGolightly4 If you are doing a course they tend to do it at pools that are warmer.

Not always. Like I said, our pool is freezing.

Ahhh! Thank you both. I’ve looked up the swim nappy and the suit.
I did wonder about arm bands as there seem to be none for infants.

Thanks for your info! Star

Our baby pool is cold so my daughter wears a Happy Nappy and pair of cotton containment pants underneath it, then on top she wears a Happy Nappy wet suit.

No armbands, you don't let go of them. She'll need a neoprene swim nappy and under that goes either a reusable swim nappy liner or a disposable swim nappy. You can put a swimming costume on top if you want to but I wouldn't bother as it's another thing to faff with. Clothes that aren't tight for you for after so you get dressed really fast while slightly damp. Have fun!
