Bleeding during sex- abnormal cells- should I be worried?

So recently I have had bleeding during having sex. It’s happened two times now. Both were roughly 3-5 days before my period was due. It was a fair amount and bright red (sorry tmi). Both times I thought it was my period starting, but then after i’d stopped and my period came like 3-5 days later. I have also started getting other strange symptoms before my period like feeling like I constantly need a wee (even though i have just been) just before my period. Once my period has come it is a lot better. I am not sure it’s down to hormones. I’m 37 and feel premenopausal. The first time the bleeding happened I thought it might be to do with friction, but now I am not so sure after the second time. I don’t have any pain during it and my periods are pretty regular and normal..I am worried because a few years ago I did have abnormal cells cin3 and had to have a loop, due to HPV. My recent one, after that procedure was normal. I am just wondering if this is something serious. What’s your thoughts? I am going to make a GP appointment but waiting as I am currently on AF at the moment. Feeling anxious about it.

GP needs to have a look but if you’re up to date with your smears it’s very unlikely you have cervical cancer- cells generally take years to progress to that stage (although of course there can be rare exceptions). It’s more likely to be an ectropian or polyp. I’ve had an ectropian for years and sometimes it’s caused bleeding, I had something called silver nitrate put on it and it stopped the symptoms.

I had something similar to this and it was a cervical erosion. In my case it was caused by the contraceptive injection (I was young, about 22). Basically, the sensitive cells that are normally further up my cervix were forming lower down. I had day surgery for them to be cauterised and never had an issue since.

Go to the doctors and ask to be referred for a colposcopy. I've had bleeding during sex a couple of times, about 10 years ago. I had a very small polyp on my cervix and the other time it was old period blood coming out. I also wonder if you have a UTI that isn't going away, as you mention needing to wee a lot.
