Second interview advice please!

I had an interview earlier this week for an incredible role. The interviewer and I really clicked and it ended up being nearly 3x longer than originally planned for. He offered me a second interview on the spot.

The second interview will be with him again, as well as a more senior member of staff who does not directly do the same type of work as me and the person who I initially interviewed with.

I really just wanted some advice on how I should prepare for the second interview. This is only my second interview in the past 5 years, the other one I didn’t get as they had already planned to give it to someone internally.

It’s a professional role. I don’t think this one will be as technical since the other interviewer doesn’t do the same type of work as I do. I think it’s more to see whether I’d be a good cultural fit.

It would be a dream role for me. I am slightly under qualified, which they’re aware of and fine with.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Congratulations on clearly having made a brilliant impression on your first interview!

Honestly, just be yourself. As you say, this second interview sounds less about your qualifications and ability to do the job and more about whether you gel with this second interviewer. So all you need to do is be calm, professional, exactly as you were for the first which went so well.

No need to emphasise your under qualification as they already know. Just be friendly, answer concisely, ask appropriate questions. It sounds very positive so wishing you all the best!
