man I’m getting my knickers in a knot about this.

The company I work for is opening a new branch. I’ve applied for a transfer to do exactly the same role as I am now, and have been doing for a year.
I only had a brief interview for my job as I started as a temp, then I was kept on.

Turns out I have to do a group exercise and a 1 hour face to face interview which will be ‘competency based’ (this isn’t a particularly high fallutin job either, it’s quite entry level).

Im really anxious about it and to be honest don’t know how to prepare in advance - any hints and tips?

Is there a Job Description or Person Specification? Everything they're looking for should be in there if so.

Prepare answers for the various competencies with examples. “Tell us about a time when you had to …” . It does not have to be in your current role. In the group exercise allow others a voice but make sure you get enough input and show some initiative.

If you're a fan of ChatGPT, I found the TechTalk Application Assistant really useful for CV writing and interview prep. (No affiliation, I think this is available for free).
