Skirt https://www.marksandspencer.com/faux-leather-midi-wrap-skirt/p/clp61268242?color=Black&intid=mobileapppdpshare
Fit is amazing
feel amazing
looks really expensive.

But if I wore it with black tights, would it look weird ? if I wore it with knee boots would it break up the whole split thing so I think I have to work with heels and then what on my legs?

Oh thank you, I thought it was only me holding back my inner Regina George ….

So if you were going to work the first week in January with a short skirt and clumpy boots on, you'd wear no tights

Bare legs in January is lunacy.

I wouldn’t wear that skirt to work though.

NorfSideBlues · 21/10/2026 15:40

I’m quite a ‘classic (some might say boring!) dresser, and I would absolutely wear that skirt with high boots, but they’d need to be a close fitting, slim style - ideally a ‘sock boot’ or if not, a suede boot (leather would look odd) - and sit high enough up that there is no awkward gap between skirt and boot.

I like alk-black outfits with different textures of fabric involved, so I’d wear it with a long sleeve, fitted black polo neck or a boxy, possibly ‘fluffy’ sweater in black, OR a slouchy fine-kniy in dark grey or possibly a very dark brown. I think you could pull that off nicely for winter work wear.

‘No bare legs / nude tights / bare ankles showing’ after October half term was always my rule (a completely made up by ME rule, to be fair) when worked in education.

If it was Spring, I think nude tights / bare legs and trainers/high tops and a boxy jumper would look great, but maybe not for school unless you’re the ‘I’m a bit funky, me’ art teacher or summat 😉

iCod · 21/10/2026 15:35

Oh well, that's interesting thank you. Sorry to people who don't like it. Luckily for you, you haven't bought it!

me GUSTA

I have to agree. Not a fan at all. Even the model who is attractive doesn't look great in it.

The whole outfit she has got on - including the skirt - is dreadful! 😬

JMO.

I would probably wear black tights with it if I did ever wear it (though I never would!)

I don't do short skirts (or mornings) anymore. By the time I am up and about, it's not so cold.

I can't remember the last time I wore tights or, God forgive, stockings.

Oh my God, was she Joan Collins?

Unfortunately not , just a working class factory worker 😀😀😀 but the factory was a clothing factory so all the ladies working there on basically a minimum wage used to be able to buy clothes at a massively reduced rate so they used to all look amazing in the pub at the weekend . The leather outfit wasn’t a work one but one she saved for ages for. Im contemplating that skirt for myself now.

iCod · 21/10/2026 14:44

Oh, you should order it. It looks really nice in real life.

Skirt is gorgeous OP. I remember my mother having something very similar in the mid 80s. She went for full effect with a matching leather blouson jacket .

I think patterned tights with that kind of fabric, well pleather, and that frilly bottom would just be too much. I'm thinking plain everything.

patterned and colour tights are awesome. I have about 20 pairs. just makes an outfit more interesting i think. Now I never wear just black. too boring.

I agree - would go for semi sheer chocolate or aubergine tights with exact same colour neat shoe/boot and neat top / jumper as a backdrop to leave the skirt as main character. I think the material, cut and whole wrap thing needs not to be fought with - almost like a sculpture on a plinth in a gallery.

Patterned tights in black could work if no sheer tights in black or skin tone. It does look lovely in the picture but I think it just might not on size 16 me!

Freya1542 · 21/10/2026 14:11

@iCod AI suggests; 😊

Tights Style, Colour & Density. Why It Works
The Classic Evening
Sheer Black (10–20 Denier)
Adds a sophisticated, Parisian edge. It shows a glimpse of skin beneath the wrap, preventing the black leather from looking too heavy.
The Cosy Daytime
Opaque Black (60–100 Denier)
Perfect for winter. It creates a sleek, continuous silhouette that elongates your legs, especially when paired with black boots.
The Fashion-Forward
Patterned Black (Polka dot, fishnet, or chevron)
Adds rich texture and visual interest to a monochrome look without clashing with the skirt's asymmetric hemline.
The Soft Alternative
Charcoal Grey or Deep Espresso Burgundy
Softens the harshness of an all-black look while keeping the outfit grounded in rich, autumnal tones.

🧥 Complete Outfit Styling
Pairing the right tops, shoes, and jewellery ensures the skirt remains the star of the show.

Styling Element, Day / Casual LookNight / Evening Look
Top
• Fitted cream or grey roll-neck knit sweater
• Fine-gauge ribbed jumper tucked in
• Intricate lace bodysuit
• Silk or satin button-down blouse
• Off-the-shoulder bodysuit
Footwear
• Chunky leather loafers
• Clean minimalist white trainers
• Flat knee-high riding boots
• Pointed-toe stiletto ankle boots
• Strappy heeled sandals (sans tights)
• Sleek sock boots
Outerwear
• Cropped wool bomber jacket
• Oversized trench coat
• Tailored, sharp-shouldered blazer
• Plush faux fur short coat

👜 Finishing Touches
Jewellery: The skirt features a discreet back zip, giving you total freedom at the front. Lean into bold gold jewellery (like chunky hoop earrings, a heavy chain necklace, or stacked rings) to add warmth against the black polyurethane.
Belts: Because the waist features a slightly dipping front edge, avoid thick belts that crowd the area. Let the high-waisted wrap silhouette do the work on its own.
Bags: Opt for a structured baguette shoulder bag or a minimal leather clutch to mirror the clean, modern lines of the design.

I'm more stunned by the fact that in all of the nine reviews. No one has used the cliché "dress it up dress it down", which they seem to use on every single item in the Marks and Spencer website.

Will someone come and confiscate my hard drive?

Edited

Typo for colour, I assumed.

Love the difference in fit on the two models, one showing full knee and sliver of thigh, the other really not.
