Skirt https://www.marksandspencer.com/faux-leather-midi-wrap-skirt/p/clp61268242?color=Black&intid=mobileapppdpshare
Fit is amazing
feel amazing
looks really expensive.

But if I wore it with black tights, would it look weird ? if I wore it with knee boots would it break up the whole split thing so I think I have to work with heels and then what on my legs?

I am in my mid 50s

A mere child! (I'm 66.)

Kokonimater · 22/10/2026 09:37

Even M&S don’t know. Thats why she’s in white socks.
it’s gotta be ankle boots.

Moveoverdarlin · 22/10/2026 09:01

I really like it, but boots would look awful with it. Whether knee high or ankle, they wouldn’t suit it.

I would wear high heels. Tights wise I think sheer black or natural.

I agree @Calliopespa

Sheer black all the way for me.

I'd avoid patterns as the skirt is already a complicated cut and drape, you don;t need more detailing.

I think knee boots would look a bit S and M.

Okay...American Creative Director. (I'm fairly ancient, so no idea who's who in fashion these days.)

I have nothing useful to add, save that I wish that I were young enough and slim enough to wear the skirt - it looks gorgeous.

You don't have to be young to wear this skirt. Cod will not mind me saying she has been here since the dawn of MN, I hope. 😀
I like the second chocolate coloured dress.

iCod · 22/10/2026 07:41

I wonder if they are going to stock those leopard print boots.. In the meantime, I'm gonna go 20 Den dark brown I think

Well, I've got you here and we're largely, with a few exceptions, agreeing. I also ordered on a whim this beautiful dress abd ITS FAB and I'm thinking of abandoning my customary sequins for my parties this Christmas to wear this- also slight hosiery issue.

For daytime - M&S do a long sleeve v-neck body that was also on their London FW show. Thick, mini shoulder pads - very stylish as I bought it after hunting it down

can you link?

Oh god wish I’d not clicked on the link 😭 I ❤️ it!

I’d wear it as evening wear with Wolford Neon 40 in Gobi or black patterned tights. Pointy ankle boots and a plain silk body.

Sunbringer · 21/10/2026 22:42

SurferRona · 21/10/2026 18:59

I’m very heavy on tights, holes, tears, ladders, toes, fingernails, fingers, snagging on doors….. If you knacker a pair of tights, they are useless. If I knacker one stocking I can till use the good one with one from a new pair. Saves me a lot on money over years of tights. They are 60 denier, toasty!

Ah, well sure, but when I’m dragging the thing behind me because it’s fallen down what then

DramaAlpaca · 21/10/2026 22:39

Ooh, I just ordered that skirt today! I'm delighted to see this thread as it's given me some great ideas for how to style it.

Lifeislikeaboxofchocolate · 21/10/2026 21:49

Less is more. No big boots! A small discreet shoe ‘bare’ legs.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/10/2026 21:42

iCod · 21/10/2026 20:09

Really? Have a similar midi one from last year I wore loads. Colleague had the brown one.

Nah - I'd save it for the pub.

JaceLancs · 21/10/2026 21:12

I would wear sheer black or charcoal or a tiny all over pattern - bought some lovely ones tonight in Tesco of all places with little tiny bow pattern
I would wear heeled ankle boots

I stopped a woman in the street to compliment her on her skirt, which was this one. She was wearing slouchy suede low heel boots. Not sure about the tights situation, was too busy marvelling that it was from M&S

OOH KIWI.
she's wearing if before its even cold. That's thrilling.
