swearing/names

something has bothered me recently... i agree with the swearing policy, although I myself am not offended by swearing... i think it's a good idea...

but there is someone with a name that really bothers me... phucknuckle.

i don't know why it bothers me so much... but it does.... if you read this phucknuckle, it isn't personal!!!

But just was thinking... if it was spelled fucknuckle then people would complain... why is a ph different?

I am guilty of this also Kanga! Some of the threads are so long I just start reading like mad and pay no attention to who has written them. But..most of the time I try to give attention to the names because I like to get the "know" the posters so that I can feel more connected. Love your name by the way!

SC I suppose I should take more notice of names on here but tend to just read messages not the names unless someone says something like

"oh kanga said .......... " then I go to read what Kanga had said IYSWIM

I will have already read the thread but not who said what

My brother worked in a travel agent and a lady came in enquiring about the holiday in the window to go to F It!

She meant Phuket.

Thats how many people pronounce Ph.

what I mean is that I read it as a word like pumpernickle ie with a P

SC that's horrible I just thought it was a funny looing, silly spelled name. I admit my humour has always been slightly adolescent but never though it would offend people to this extent

That honestly wasn't the intention, to come across aggressively. I saw the name in someone's post, but I can't remember what the post was about.

I just liked the look of it really, but if it's offendeing loads of people I suppose I'l have to change it back

I have to admit to a sharp intake of breath when I first saw the name - which I think is probably the reaction that the poster wants. I agree that it comes across as aggressively sexual, and that makes me uneasy.
