Disclaimer/Helpful Links for SN too?

Similar to the idea for the Feeling Depressed section, we did talk about doing something like this on SN, plus a possible Q&A somewhere (which could be links to threads) and Dinosaur offerd to write a Red Flags & Red Herrings document. Also the links on the Weblink thing from the HOme page could do with improving (with our help of course).

I like the new layout. I'm guessing "food for your brian" was intentional.

I like the "red flag or red herring?" idea too.

Hi - will pass on the ideas for the link wording to the others. What about: my child's symptoms: red flag or red herring?

And I've been good. Thanks for asking! Very very busy, so not much chatting. But the webguide has a nice new look, thanks to our LinkManager's great idea for format, and all of the reviews , every last one, have been updated. Now if we could just get the library done...

think it sounds like a fab idea - am sure you could add links to any society/group for whatever special need such as DS etc.

So what about a one line-ish disclaimer thingy then? Something like

If you post here we may eat you alive (!)

no how about something like

Please bear in mind that MNers who have children with special needs and/or diability are more/less able to errr... something or other

The webguide is a continual work in progress and it'd be great if you could email suggestions of sites to [email protected] . Our excellent Link Manager will then add them into the Special Needs section. The faq is a good idea also - love the name 'Red Flags & Red Herrings'. If you could get dinosaur or whoever to like to help on that to email us , we'll start in on it.

What about a list of sites that are regularly recommended? I can't remember the addresses atm but things like:

  • NAS
  • the CHAT test
  • the online ASD/PDD tests
  • the Dyscovery site
  • the sites that help with DLA forms
  • the Family Fund site

Sorry that these are mostly ASD-related but hopefully people will suggest some for other kinds of SN too.
