Why is the site trying to force a poll?

I'm trying to post a one-sentence question in Cunning Linguists, and the system keeps insisting on a poll, even after I clicked that I don't want one.

Sorry, by then it was long gone. But it was just a simple one-sentence query about a foreign language. It set it up for a poll, but when I clicked to show I didn't want a poll, it still was trying to force one.

And this is the second time it's happened.
