When scrolling I keep getting Amazon opening up, no actual Amazon on the threads to click

Out of nowhere just get a. Amazon page taken over, which I have to close.
There's no ad or link I'm accidentally clicking in sight.
Anyone else. Just the last couple of days.

Ok so I’m scrolling on the PH/MM thread. There isn’t even an Amazon ad on there and it still opened up. It’s happened 4 times this morning. Im

Maybe mumsnet HQ are being paid per click and are off on some exotic holiday on the proceeds 🌴😎

Every ten seconds as I scroll, I seem to end up opening Amazon Haul (whatever that is). I presume it’s because there are just so many adverts-it’s making the site unusable!

I had to resort to the app this morning as my laptop was just giving 404 errors (presumably a different MN issue?). Amazon must have opened at least 15 times. Sometimes there was an ad, but mostly it was just completely random.

None of the other sites I use seem to require the "client" to keep updating their settings/clearing their cache, fiddling about behind the scenes just to read the site. Maybe MN could save money by getting rid of your tech support and just getting posters to do it instead?

It's worse today if anything, even when I'm nowhere near the add it pops up, although that add does seem to be super sensitive to scrolling too as I open it without fail no matter how hard I try to avoid it.

Morning, everyone. Sorry to hear this is still happening. Could we ask anyone experiencing this issue to check the exact version of the app you are using please? You can check this by opening the app and then opening the profile menu in the top right hand corner of the screen. You should then be able to see the version number at the bottom of the menu. If you could pop that here in the thread that might just help us work out what's going on. Thanks! Flowers

You kind of have to wonder why the tech team don't just get their phones out and try using the app. Then they could see the abomination themselves

Hi all,

A quick update on the issue some users have reported with Amazon ads opening unexpectedly in the iOS and Android apps.

We’ve now been able to recreate the issue, which means we can see what’s happening rather than trying to work from your reports alone. We're now working on a fix. From what we’ve seen, this appears to be happening when users interact with the ad area in the app, rather than deliberately tapping through to Amazon, so we do understand why it’s frustrating.

We'll update again we've released the fix, hopefully not much longer. Thanks so much to everyone who has reported it and shared details, it really does help and we're sorry for the annoyance in the meantime. Any questions/comments do let us know. 🙏
