Threads scrolling by themselves

Had this this morning on Chrome on a Samsung S24. Very irritating!!

MN is completely unusable. @MNHQ I have a screen record if you want to see it - I can't seem to add it on here.

I can't scroll back up on the page, the page keeps moving like it is on a conveyor belt.

Thank fuck I don't pay for this, I keep thinking about it because the adverts do my nut, but then things like this keep happening.

I saw this thread title and thought it sounded weird but wasn't something I have experienced - then the next thread I clicked on it started doing it. I think it's an advert issue, it scrolled down to a full screen advert and then stopped (screengrab here). Next time it happens, watch and see where it stops and we will probably trace a specific advert or type of advert that is causing this issue.

I'm not sure that @MNHQ works as a tag but various names like @HebeMumsnet And @LilyMumsnet may get through to an actual person at MNHQ

Totally thought I'd got something on my screen that was making it do this....my phone has never been cleaner!

The colours are pretty difficult to get used to, but I will. But whatever this fresh hell is with the threads seeming to have a mind of their own is too much and not something I'll ever get used! Make it stop! Please!

Me too. Chrome on Android on Motorola. Site no longer accessible and becoming a chore to read.

Just coming on to post this if it wasn't already there.
Android phone, using Chrome.

Just some threads. Refreshing doesn't stop it. Copying the url, and pasting into a new tab did stop it.

Makes the thread unreadable.

What can be the thought process behind this? Are we expected to never look up? Never re read a post?
I leave my phone open on something I'm interested in and come back to it after I've done whatever I'm doing.

This is happening in some threads for me. Not on this one. It’s slow and jumpy and you can’t go faster. I can’t read the threads it’s on.

It's heinous. And much slower than my reading speed, so makes using MN really difficult. If I try scrolling down, it just jumps about because it's still also trying to scroll, seemingly.

It pretty much makes using the site impossible. I am not a fan and can't use MN enjoyably like this at all.

But it is doing the random refresh thing.

Also notably not happening on this thread.

@mnhq. I haven’t been able to use safari for weeks because it just hangs on the ads. I now can’t use chrome because it scrolls. iPhone. I give up.

I reckon its something theyve put in to try and stop people rapidly scrolling past ads. So so so annoying

Had this yesterday too. Again Chrome and Android on a Samsung device.

Same for me. Chrome on my Samsung android.

I have found if I go back to the previous thread and then on to the thread I want to read it stops (until I want to read another thread 🙄). Strangely it didn't do it on this thread though.

it would be bad enough if if was smooth. But the juddetjnv is awful.

time to turn MN OFF .

I'm getting the auto scrolling, but not on every thread! It's so annoying and it goes too fast for me, I can't read it while it's scrolling!
@MNHQ please turn this off, it's awful. Or at least make it so that people can choose whether to have it on or not.

I've had to turn the brightness down on the phone. Then keep closing the banner ads that pop up.
Now a thread just started scrolling itself. I give up. Time for bed.

What on earth has been done to this site? I have got the constant scrolling now.
Why can't MNHQ just fix the bits that don't work and stop meddling with the bits that were working perfectly well?
It is just horrible now.
