I am really disappointed at the lack of update from MNHQ about the deletion or not of posts with MedExpress referral posts.

@BeckyAMumsnet a huge thank you to you and all the team. It must have so much extra work for you all but it's much appreciated.

Not just the frequency but the begging. "Please, please use my code it would make such a huge difference to me."

Don’t forget the ‘please please use my code and I pinky-promise I’ll donate half of the credit to charity.’

watchuswreckthemic · 29/04/2025 21:57

I couldn’t find my post to delete it so thank you for deleting the entire thread Mumsnet- thank you

I took screenshots when they changed the rules a couple of months ago, and have attached the relevant bit. Despite what a few of you are saying, rather unfairly imo, MedExpress expanded the friends and family code sharing to include all forms of social media, including forums. As soon as that happened, everyone started sharing them here, which is about the time the new promo code forum was set up.

We were posting in the forum set up for sharing those codes. Most of us used someone else's code to get started, ourselves. People want to use the codes, we shared them on the off chance they would be used.

And yes, it was a huge difference to some of us. I'm support staff in a school, getting someone to use my referral code was equivalent to half a day's pay for me.

As much as I understand people finding the code sharing a bit annoying, surely the purpose of the separate forum was so that you wouldn't have to read the posts, unless you wanted to find one to use, yourself?

Sharing it once maybe, but hundreds of times is excessive and spamming.

@BeckyAMumsnet

i want to sincerely thank you and your team for deleting all of my posts with my MedExpress code. You have gone above and beyond my expectations.

It very much favours those with a brass neck, doesn’t it? And it litters up online spaces.

Interesting to hear from BeckyMN, that some users have shared the same code HUNDREDS of times. That’s incredibly excessive and obsessive.

Perhaps all code advertising should be banned. Whether that be Octopus energy or the Tretinoin suppliers. One of whom has no hope of ever using the credits accrued as they are so large.

No I think it’s more that the codes were not being used in the spirit of how they were intended, as referrals for family and friends, and people were taking advantage of the large platform here to gain multiple discounts

Ah thanks.

Code spammers getting lairy with MNHQ is a bit much, in that case.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 29/04/2025 12:32

There's something extremely distasteful and ethically iffy about referral codes for prescription medicines. Especially from online pharmacies, which we know are commonly used to circumvent the prescribing criteria for prescription only medications. There have been plenty of posts on MN advising people of how to cheat the system and get their online prescription ok'd by these pharmacies when they do not meet the prescribing criteria. Discount codes for this prescribing route feels like incentivising unsafe and unethical practices.

(This is not a post about weight loss drugs in general, I think they are fantastic when prescribed correctly and monitored)

What’s happened? Personal data being revealed by the codes? Or something like that?

Hello, everyone. We've been in touch with MedExpress, who have kindly extended the time period for your codes to be removed on Mumsnet to 31st May. We are working through your reports. Thank you.

From the MedExpress Team

We are in conversation with Mumsnet, and understand that removal is a manual process on their side, which may take some time. However, it remains your responsibility to ensure you have contacted them, please ensure you do so asap. Please make sure this is done no later than May 31st.

You're all superstars thank you!

I'd already reported my own post, but I have loads of comments on the few big threads we had going. I'll leave it a bit but if we need to go through and report the comments individually, I'll do so.

Thank you again 🤗

Cursory · 29/04/2025 12:18

Thanks for doing this, I know it’s a lot of extra work and I appreciate it.

Thank you @BeckyAMumsnet I think all of mine are reported now but will keep and eye out.

Thank you @BeckyAMumsnet do we need to report our posts again? I reported three of mine already.

MatriarchCaz · 29/04/2025 11:16

I have reported one of my posts and asked if all my posts sharing the code please be removed, is that the best way to do it - just report one post and ask for them all to be removed?

You are looking at it from a ME customer biased viewpoint, assuming other pharmacies have crossed the line ME has and will take the same approach to resolving the issue. A more customer friendly approach would be to honour accrued credit /discounts but stop codes, they are obviously doing this partly because they have screwed up and need to reduce the massive liability of all the credits customers have accrued. Most other pharmacies don’t do this, they give % discounts on future pens.

You are also assuming other posters won’t mind if their board is nuked which you cannot do for possibly thousands of posters.

Remember all that is happening here is removal of the credits they should never have had. A ME email on the other thread said if they can show credits earned legitimately from friends and family they will review them which hopefully means legitimate credits will be reinstated.

I know other pharmacies are also funding people who are also sharing their codes and naming Mounjaro as the prescription medication that they're promoting, which is why I know they, too, will eventually have to change their promotions as that is the crux of what ME is dealing with now.

I also know how I would feel if the board were nuked and I had to repost my code: I would just repost my code. It wouldn't be arduous, and the board itself was made to keep the spam all to one place. The threads aren't being moved to Classics for saving so that we can keep re-reading them; they're literally just threads full of codes and people naming the medication they're promoting.

Some of us did follow the rules (no naming of prescription medication, no making specific claims, there was a whole list which most people didn't follow) so I disagree with your comment that people should 'never have had' the credits to begin with. Those of us who posted correctly were posting to the conditions which were laid out by ME when they changed them to allow us to post to social media a couple of months ago.

Reddit allows for editing our own posts, it's a shame it isn't possible here because we could all just do this ourselves.

WeAllHaveWings · 27/04/2025 23:38

cakewench · 27/04/2025 20:18

At the moment, the problem is with the ME customers, however they are responding to the regulations and the other pharmacies haven't yet.

Anyway, I realise I'm one of the ME posters, but if I were posting codes from another pharmacy, I would not find it a hardship to have to re-post my code if the board were wiped clean if it meant other people could keep their credits.

The forum is essentially people just spamming codes, there aren't posts of substance which need to be saved for their insight or anything.

(FWIW: other pharmacies will end up having to comply. ME customers were told not to mention the medications by name, and unfortunately it looks like 90% of people just didn't read those guidelines, and I think this is why they're nuking the whole thing. They've allowed the 'affiliate' code people to continue to share, because they/we have had to agree to following those rules specifically and they can track our social media to make sure we are doing it properly. I know there's people upset about this, and maybe they'll find a way to allow non-affiliates to share codes again, but they'd only do it if people would actually follow the rules they've given so that ME doesn't get in trouble)

Not all posters in the promos boards will want their posting history removed. The issue is only with Med Express customers.
