Shouldn’t the clap and the thumbs up be the other way around?

Annoys me that the clap reaction is for ‘thanks’. Who claps to say thank you?? I more imagine people clapping in agreement a la Question Time / Rikki Lake. And then the thumbs up for ‘thanks’ like someone has answered your question on WhatsApp or whatever.

Just a minor but frequent gripe. Surely lots of people at MNHQ agree with me 😂

It's probably for the best that there aren't any negative ones available, but I could often find a use for a 'politely disagree' option too.

Maybe a thumbs-down, or a palm-down waving hand. An arse emoji to signify "I very much do not respect your ill-reasoned opinion" might lead to far too many bunfights, though!

If someone writes a really good, well-argued post that makes excellent points, I want to clap it but that's 'thanks' which doesn't fit, yet merely agreeing with it doesn't seem like it's offering enough appreciation. My finger hovers between the two!

I like the idea of a "wow" button.

However, above all, I really want a "disagree" option. Or a WTF option would do it.

tbh clapping only works if you think the poster has said something fantastic, in which case, you'd probably say so.

There's clearly dissent and/or confusion about what the emoji mean, as I've had a lot of mixed ones: i.e. I post something that (I think) is amusing or jokey, and might get at least one of each kind of response emoji (a full house?!).

I can see your point; but I also don't think it's necessarily wrong as it is.

I'd like to see something suitable for "Wow!" and/or to sympathise with a post about something sad or horrific that has happened to the OP or somebody they know/have heard of.

Say if somebody posts a jaw-dropping story about a monarch-tier CF, how can/should you react without sounding flippant, inappropriate or as though you've misconstrued it as though the OP/poster is the arch-CF?!

I only use the thumbs up one, to mean I agree.
I don't use the applauding one.

I agree with you Op. I like the feature, but it is the wrong way round for me.
