Of course, that's the risk of any forum. Any advice would be checkable though and obviously anyone relying solely on mumsnet for financial, or indeed advice about any other topic would be very silly.

Tbf, women use mumsnet for a lot of things I wouldn't. Health questions for example. Mumsnet provide a health board and women often use it as a place before seeing a GP. It can be a useful sounding board.

It can also be full of appalling advice.

What would constitute as a high-earner in the context of the new board? A 62k salary? 100K? Let's say the benchmark is an 80k salary, what of those whose annual holiday budget is 80k - and that's when they didn't really do much. What of those who can't print out their account balance from a standard atm because the little strip of paper isn't wide enough to contain all the 0s?

Perhaps we could add ‘North of Watford and earning £66.66k plus ….. this is your place 🏡’.

Obviously for those of us who might be career women in the grim north.

I agree, I was just suggesting that we won't get one, so look elsewhere.

(Of course from a commercial advertising perspective Mumsnet should be doing all it can to maximise engagement with high earners, and to stop us from taking our discussions elsewhere, so maybe my cynicism is misplaced.)

I’d seek proper advice if I needed to address a pensions issue, everyone’s situation is unique.

I’d reach out to something like CMI Women or another one of my professional networks on career focus.

I certainly would not come here where people are anonymous and could write a complete load of fiction if they chose to.

As shown here you really will get no sense on Mumsnet without a separate board! And I think it's fairly safe to say that we won't get a separate board, so just adapt accordingly

Mumsnet provide a sex board that is basically dominated by pervy men to overshare their made up sexual fantasies....it's therefore quite annoying if they won't provide a place for posters, mainly women, who are their core members, to talk about financial matters and protect them from the goady arseholes, whether you're a low or higher earner.

I actually don’t see the harm, they have a specific experience and are allowed to ask questions. At least people can hide the threads if they get very upset about people earning 100k+. Why not. I thought childfree mumsnetters was a really good idea and the black, south asian and muslim boards. People sometimes need advice from someone who understand their specific circumstances.

Or protecting your savings for private school. Just stick it in a trust fund. 👍

Definitely. I would prefer to have somewhere that is female focused. The sub reddits have helped me massively but are somewhat lacking on information that I need now I'm on maternity leave and considering a career break. Maybe it could work on here if the threads didn't show up on trending?
