Board for high earners

I see that the other thread was started by an OP who wasn’t engaging in good faith. I certainly am so, Mumsnet, can we please have a separate board for high earners? It would be helpful for these threads to be in one place and to avoid them being high jacked by the inevitable “small violin” and “diamond shoes” comments.

I don’t understand how mnet becomes a choice for an intelligent career woman on this tbf.

I’d seek proper advice if I needed to address a pensions issue, everyone’s situation is unique.

I’d reach out to something like CMI Women or another one of my professional networks on career focus.

I certainly would not come here where people are anonymous and could write a complete load of fiction if they chose to.

Yes surely the point is that is you earn over 100k you probably have other resources to ask about private school fees or tax trusts or school fees…. So why are you asking mumsnet?

hence it could be called ‘Free advice for The Loaded’ board.

the UHNW and HNW can ask their advisors

What would a person need to know about planning investments and for the future, if they want to take a career break, and take some time out of the working world? Wouldn't it be the DH mainly needing to do that, as the DW would not be earning?

Sorry, meant to post link as a stand-alone post.
What I meant was that vhnw individuals, or hnw ones, esp women, have many support and advice networks because they have had to.
These are not in the individuals workplace, rather external and a 'safe' place for discussion

I said this on another thread, I think forums for women are really great for support with lots of things but things like money seems to grate more. I don't think a separate board would work cos people would come on the threads and derail them. I'd say maybe stick with MSE or Reddit. It's a little unfortunate that we seem to need men to be able to have supportive conversations on topics like finances for higher earners. Or perhaps conversations like that are just not what Mumsnet is for. While I do agree people should watch their tone, no one needs to apologise for earning well just like no one needs apologise for earning less well or being on benefits.

On money saving expert there are boards for isas and pensions and then debt and benefits

So one can post "I have a cash isa of more than £85k, should I split it" without any judgment. It's not next to a thread on struggling to pay the electric

Maybe the new board needs to be on getting out of debt or benefits. Then money matters is about using money you do have better. Be that investments or pensions etc.

But just like atheists barging onto the religious boards and trying to pick a fight, those posts would be intruding and outside the scope of the board so could be more easily moderated away.

And the paupers errrrr, other people could hardly say the posts were insensitive, which seems to be the main complaint currently.

Agree. But it seems posters don't want these posts on existing boards but don't want them on a separate board, which says a lot.

I hope mumsnet do read this because the moderating is the issue. At the moment they seem to be allowing posters to attack others, whether that's a snarky tiny violin to higher earners or a nasty judgemental post to a lower earner with god forbid, more than 1 child. They need to sort it out because mumsnet is anything but supportive atm.

Plus the ones in the thread at the low end of the high earning scale might just start telling the ones at the high end of it to check their privilege anyway Grin

I mean when someone starts moaning that she only got a £500k bonus I can guarantee someone else is going to jump in and say she should be grateful as they only got £50k this year....

Would be fun to watch it all unravel...

Surely if it's DH earning the £100k it's 'family money', it's only the wife who is allowed to keep running away money for herself!
