100k isn't a high wage regardless of the criteria or number of ponies owned. I would say that 350k p.a. is a good enough arbitrary figure, with a disposable income of 50% of that, BUT as long as you have 3 foreign holidays a year, with one in Nice.

How will you be able to tell the genuine high earners from the fantasists? Anyone can post on here about earning £100K with share options, final salary pension, health plan and gym subsidy and you'd never be able to validate it.

So it could save you the bother of not encouraging the delusionals.

I think it was suggested on the previous thread that got deleted that household income 100k pa should be the threshold. But of course we have been told many times that this is barely above the breadline in London so more debate needed.

A poster above suggested several boards each with their own ranges so they could do that. But then the people in Shitown oop north rolling in 75k and their 10k mortgages paid off would be cast adrift from the ‘how doing I minimise my tax liabilities’ tips.

The fat posts are the worst. I have a very dear friend who struggles with her weight and people like that make her life hell. She is judged and judged at every turn, yet is actually an amazing woman doing twice what others do.

Worse still, if you give the fatshamers even a bit of pushback, they simply can’t take it at all. Point out that past a certain age skinny women look wrinkly and it’s all lemon-faced gasps 😱: “what a thing to say!!!”

I have never been a high earner but I know that, as a teacher now retired, my income was higher than most people in the areas where I taught and that I am now reasonably comfortable in retirement. I am aware of my privilege.

Well if you had decent friends or the intelligence to seek independent financial advice (which many high earners have) you don’t need to post on these matters on Mumsnet. This is all a silly thing for a certain demographic to say they have stuff or an excess of money. It is crass.

It’s the mumsnet operating model. If they want to protect groups of people from unkindness, snark or piss taking and put extra work into moderating then they can do so. They choose not to. Wealthy women receive no more of it than many other groups that come here.

What I’m seeing here is that some wealthy members believe they require a special service that poor or fat women (my current notable groups for examples) don’t currently enjoy.

Because it's likely that those PP wanting a dedicated high earners board want that special feeling when discussing their lifestyle choices and middle class conundrums AKA stealth boasts.

Where's the satisfaction in doing that on a board which is likely focused on actual help and advice?

I mean , they do have a subscription version, I joined it for a month or two out of curiosity. The subscription threads were very quiet.
Maybe MN need to charge more for the subscription version so it feels sufficiently elite?

I don't have a problem with the idea of a board for high earners. There might be things that people quite reasonably need or want to discuss, and others can hide the board if they don't want to see it.

It isn't actually the high earners that would post on such a board that are the problem. The issue is with the people who claim that they're "struggling" or "just average" when they're on a high income that would be beyond the wildest dreams of many other posters. Or the ones that claim that it's simply impossible to live in London on less than £100k etc.
