Is it possible to mute or block a poster? I’m sick of seeing his/her posts.

That's ridiculous unless they blocked you too. You can read anybody's thread and posts when you're not blocked regardless of if they blocked each other.

Hello @FeralWoman right now, as previous posters have said, you can't mute or block a poster on Mumsnet. Never say never, but we've considered that such a feature may negatively impact the flow of discussion.

You can, of course, report anyone who may be breaking our Talk guidelines.

It works fine on loads of other forums, I don't see why it would be any different on mumsnet. I'd love to be able to mute/block posters.

Some posters really put me, and other women I know, off posting here. It would be a much better site if we could mute/block.

Yes the mute function is handy when you’ve had enough of a poster but want to still read a thread that they’re posting in. Good way to reduce conflict too.

I love the mute button on the other forum I frequent. It's fantastic when there's a poster who dislikes you and follows you around trying to pick a fight. It stops you being tempted to respond, because you don't actually see what they've said!

I kinda like the posters that get under my skin a little, because it’s usually something in me that needs looking at - causes some reflection about my reaction.

After all they are just a person, one of many, with a view. I think a mute button might create some intolerance. We all have to put up with some annoying people. It’s life ( looking across the office at a man that has barely done any work since he arrived) 🤷‍♀️

I might be on the same other forum as @FeralWoman (or it might be a completely different one) and it is very useful to mute the occasional poster who adds nothing to the discussion but long posts full of tripe. I rarely notice people's user names on here to be honest though, it's a bigger pool and more anonymous than the other forum.

It would impact the entire flow and context of a discussion if that happened I guess. It's great to have differing views and I think if we can't tolerate it or find a way to just ignore it, it might be time to step away for a bit.

If people become hateful or harassing, it seems that MN will jump on that.

I agree OP - it would be handy to have a mute button so I could skip past the comedy without having to even catch a glimpse of the same old rubbish.
