Pop-up advert that won’t go away.

I keep getting Siemens advert pop up randomly, and despite having an x in the corner it doesn’t often work.

I always thought pop ups weren’t quite in the spirit of the site 😏

Just for the record, I did clear cookies for a second time the other day after reading @HebeMumsnet’s reply to Bluey, and I haven’t had the ad since. I was getting it a lot before.

Yup, it's back. I just don't really understand why this sort of thing happens on Mumsnet. It doesn't seem to happen on any other websites I use which have adverts.

Hi @BlueyTuesdays . Unfortunately, without clearing cookies the ad may still continue to pop up. We know it's a pain - sorry. Hopefully clearing them again should solve the issue.

Still getting it, about 15 mins ago. I have cleared cookies etc once and that’s a right pain so I don’t want to do it again if the ad is still going to pop up all the time!

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who's posted screenshots and URLs for these ads - and sorry they've been such a problem of late. We've (hopefully!) blocked the ones that were misbehaving by now, but please let us know if any are still cropping up.

Same here. I turned off ad blocker, cleared everything and I've had it about 6 times since. It doesn't appear fixed.

Screenshot today. Cookies cleared this morning - which tbh is a complete pita and yet still I'm getting the bloody advert.

Use Brave browser. It automatically blocks most adverts and tracking cookies.

Morning, everyone. We have had this ad blocked so it shouldn't still be appearing. Can we ask everyone to clear their cookies again? That should fix it but if not please do let us know.

So it sounds like they're still working on it but haven't got an answer yet.

Thanks for letting us know you'd had a response. It really did seem like they were just ignoring the issue.

I definitely recommend using an ad blocker it was driving me to distraction!

Thanks @Ineffable23 for the update. It would be nice to see a update on the thread.

Another day another Siemens advert. I will instal an adult blocker which I don't want to do as understand the need for adverts to keep sites running.

I have thought about emailing Siemens as they are spending money getting me to hate them, which doesn't seem like a good use of advertising budgets.

I reported my own post this morning and got a reply back from MNHQ as follows:

And again, it is still going on. I don't expect pop up ads on Mumsnet. I do recognise you have to have adverts to make the site run but pop ups are really intrusive.
