Why did the "Lisa Johnson One to Many" thread get deleted?

PermanentIyExhaustedPigeon · 19/03/2024 18:26

I've seen the deletion message but don't understand why the comments that broke talk guidelines couldn't have been deleted and the rest of the thread left to stand.

Lisa Johnson claims that she had it removed because she put pressure on MN to do so.

Can anyone from MNHQ clarify please?

It’s fascinating. People supporting Lisa say that some people on this thread will only say negative things, and that they don’t want to be persuaded otherwise. The same could be said of them. Lisa said some really horrible things. But still she can do no wrong it would seem. She’s just defending herself they say. Or the other people were awful (some were – that’s still not a good reason) etc etc etc I would have loved to have seen a Lisa supporter on here say “I bought her courses and they’re great but she was out of order with what she posted” Because she was. I find it bizarre that some people can’t see both sides.

A Lisa supporter called me out on one of the facts I wrote about Lisa’s book launch. I felt the book launch lacked integrity. I was told it was normal and everyone did it. I’m more than happy to be corrected. So I asked for examples of other people who are launching/have launched publicly (rather than hiding a private group) in the same way Lisa did (ie give away huge amounts of stuff worth more than books if you bulk bought the book in the first week and therefore manipulated the best sellers algorithm). No reply. Don’t just spout things or repeat Lisa. Back your arguments up! I really don't mind being proven wrong. And get this - I even apologise when I am 😉

A Lisa supporter wrote that Lisa was calling just some of the people names and not everyone. And that what she wrote on MN was fine. Really? Really? And even if it was just those people she was calling names, is it still OK? No, it’s not! In the same way that the deleted thread had horrible comments that weren’t OK. Lisa said something along the lines of “I probably shouldn't have said it but I was angry.” What’s wrong with just apologising? With saying “I used language that I shouldn’t have done, I called people names, it’s wrong, I shouldn’t have done it, no matter what, I’m sorry.” But, you have to be able to admit that you’re in the wrong to do that and I've never seen Lisa do that.

It's really hard to get an unbiased opinion of Lisa. Anyone who has never heard of her and reads this thread will see that. Including seeing that her supporters won’t call her out on name calling and other things that she shouldn’t have said and are wrong.

I wrote a likes and dislikes post on the deleted thread. Here we go again. Just so that anyone who is thinking about buying anything from Lisa can get a more balanced view.

Likes

  1. It’s amazing what she has achieved. I applaud it.
  2. I love, love, love that if you choose to pay in instalments you don’t pay a whopping huge amount more like other coaches do (yeah, yeah I know she’s not a coach but she coaches people so….). This is really commendable.
  3. Her groups are great. As long as you don’t step out of line by asking a question she/her team doesn’t like.
  4. I’ve seen some amazing acts of kindness. She invited people who were on their own on Boxing Day round to her house. What a truly beautiful thing to do.
  5. She occasionally talks about her life not being rosy all the time. Again I applaud this. So many people will look at her life and other wealthy people and think that if only they had that, then everything would be amazing. She debunks that sometimes.
  6. She knows her stuff (although see point 7)

Dislikes

  1. It’s hard to find an unbiased view about her. Or indeed any review of her outside her inner circle. As someone who likes to read reviews, I neither like nor trust that. Indeed the deleted thread was started because the original OP wanted feedback from people outside her Facebook group.
  2. If you use integrity as a selling point and something to differentiate yourself from others, then you have to work with integrity all the time, not just when it suits you. Personally I don’t think she does (refer back in the thread to my post about her book launch).
  3. If you post a question in her group that she doesn’t like (not offensive, just tricky) your post will be deleted and you may get blocked. I have seen posts being deleted before the admin has chance to remove it. And in the deleted thread someone said she was blocked by Lisa/her team for asking a perfectly reasonable question about OTM. Also not working with integrity.
  4. She says to do your due diligence before buying but then doesn’t support you doing so. See point 3 plus her response to a perfectly good question from the OP on the deleted thread.
  5. I really disliked the launch of OTM this year. It felt like a feeding frenzy at the zoo with all the affiliates and “bonuses.”
  6. She has a TEDx logo on her YT channel but I can’t find any evidence of her doing a TEDx talk. Happy to remove this point and apologise if I’m wrong. Otherwise I feel it’s misleading. And misleading does not equal integrity.
  7. I once saw someone ask about evergreen products in her group. Lisa didn’t have any at the time and she said something along the lines of “there’s no such thing as evergreen.” Absolute nonsense. If she doesn’t know something she should say “sorry, I don’t know” but she doesn’t.
  8. She uses the “they’re just jealous” line when someone says something about her she doesn’t like. I have nothing but 🙄🙄🙄🙄 for anyone who says this.
  9. Personally I think she overeggs some of the jobs she might have had in the past. For example, she’ll say “I know because I was a lawyer” about some legal point when in fact she worked in family law for not very long. I did a law degree and wouldn’t dream of saying “I know because I studied law”. She also “forecasts” recessions and downturns because “I worked as a business analyst”. Again 🙄 Anyone who is in business who keeps an eye on the economy “forecasts” these things long before Lisa mentions them. My husband would roll around with laughter if I said was forecasting them when Lisa does and tell me my forecast is about 4 months late!
  10. I feel that her response to the original thread was atrocious. Both what she posted on her FB page and her response on MN. People on here are making excuses for her. There aren’t any excuses. We all make mistakes and I accept that. But in my book, when you make a mistake you then apologise.
  11. She played the sexist card when it was no such thing. She took one comment about one man from a 29 page thread and made a massive deal out of it being sexist, whilst ignoring comments that recommended women. She basically said that the man was only recommended because he was a man. I think most men would find that comment sexist.
  12. She post things on her FB page to stir up a frenzy of supporters saying how awful other people are that are saying these things and how amazing she is. Some people like that. I don't.

So that’s me over and out. Have a great weekend beautiful people 🙂☀🌊

Thing if you can defend her as much as you like and me and others can say we disagree and think she acted really unprofessionally until we're blue in the face.

Nothing will change but I'm very glad this thread is here for anyone googling to get a proper oversight of Lisa.

TwoWhatnots · 22/03/2024 12:42

Guaranteed she and her team are regretting she didn’t just sit on her hands in the first place.

The moment she turned up on that thread to post it was not going to end well. There’s no way to do that with dignity and professionalism.

The downturn really set in once she posted on her FB page calling sexism (which really was not a factor on the thread) and using it as a lever to make content for her fans to gather around.

Neither of those were smart moves, and it escalated from there. No amount of doubling down and getting snippy undoes that slide once you jump in and get your hands dirty.

VillageOnSmile · 22/03/2024 11:40

It didn’t feel like that to me at all.

If that was the message she wanted to give, then she needs to work on the delivery. Because what I heard is someone firing with both pistols because someone on an anonymous forum dare saying something negative.

I mean she had a go at the OP who was actually defending her and was convinced that the OP was someone trying to attack her/her business. Meanwhile quite a few posters though the OP was actually one if her crew trying to attract more clients 😂😂

If she had taken the time to read properly, she’d have saved a lot of good will imo.

As for the rest if her reaction, the posts on her FB group etc… that was even more unprofessional imo. Even if I had wanted to do her course, no way I’d forget the ‘lowlife’ comment (that was aimed at all of us, MNtters)

The ‘anonymous’ part of it is rather unfair though don’t you think.

Anonymous people on here were dragging her name and her business through the mud. Not just her but her affiliates too. Naming them. Making some false accusations. People who, by their own admission, had no previous knowledge of her. No experience of working with her. Hadn’t done any of her courses. Whether that was fair or not is a matter of opinion as we have seen. IMO What started out as fair request for help from people who had done the course turned into a witch hunt with people jumping on a band wagon.

And yet when she retaliates and calls that behaviour out it’s ‘unjust’ and ‘uncalled for’. Pretty sure if they weren’t hiding behind anonymity she would have named them. But at the same time if they weren’t hiding behind an anonymity I doubt they would have actually made those comments in the first place.

May I ask do you have a business?

I do @Carab13 (with a 7 figure turnover) , and I can tell you, I would never behave in the manner in which Lisa has over something like this.

I started reading the first thread because I was genuinely interested to hear the replies to the OP. I googled Lisa and her One to Many course, and thought "good for her", it looks likes she's found her niche and is doing well.

The discussion around whether or not it was MLM was interesting, as were the deeper dives into her affiliates, but the way Lisa reacted was the most fascinating and eye opening.

Honestly @Carab13 , it really was unprofessional. I'm delighted for you that she's helped you so much and that you feel such loyalty to her, but I personally just wouldn't trust her now.

When you get negative feedback, true or not, you don't run off to your Facebook page and slag them off and threaten them with legal action. You suck it up and think of how you can win them over and make it better. I've had to do it myself.

Carab13 · 22/03/2024 06:24

Lisa didn’t attack the mums of nm, she came in to defend her course that she has designed and is passionate about and was talking directly to those who were being negative

Again I’ll ask you if you had produced something you were proud of and you found out that there was a thread of lots people coming on and saying negative untrue things about and these people had no real knowledge of it, if your were passionate about it and believed what you had a produced was brilliant would you not defend it and ask for the false comments to be taken down?

The previous thread read as an attack on Lisa and her course

May I ask do you have a business?

The OP of any thread can request its deletion.

Threads don't get deleted by MNHQ because other people request their deletion.

Ahh sorry yes, I think I read it wrong 👍

TheShellBeach · 21/03/2024 22:46

I know Lisa now enough to know her heart, morals and her business and through experience I trust her and what she teaches

But surely you disapproved of her attacks on the women of MN?

Carab13 · 21/03/2024 22:42

That previous thread did turn nasty and people who were saying things that just weren’t true.

I know Lisa now enough to know her heart, morals and her business and through experience I trust her and what she teaches.

I wouldn’t and won’t think twice about buying from her now or in the future because of the real life experiences with her and how she has helped me with my business and development

like i said previously I don’t want to argue with people or for anything to get nasty I am speaking from my own experience

TwoWhatnots · 21/03/2024 22:23

Carab13 · 21/03/2024 22:09

Lisa didn’t insult anyone she came on to defend her course.

which I would the same. If I had created something I was proud of, worked hard on and new I could help people to then read lots of negative comments off people who nothing of the course and had not participated I would be upset to, would you not?

That’s not true at all. The posts and comments made by LJ on her fb page were generalised and derogatory, more than a few times, about mn posters on the thread.

Uneducated, jealous, sexist, ignorant failures, lowlifes, envious competitors, bullies, a hateful plague that spreads to you if you spend time with them, and so on.

Her comments were not directed at specific posters - it was generalised. The backtracking and handwaving away didn’t fly if you’d seen both the thread and the fb comments.

There were definitely some personal and unjustifiable attacks on her and her business on the mn thread, especially towards the end.

Turning up on the thread to comment, then misrepresenting it on her fb page, then blocking and refunding the OP and threatening legal action to force mn to disclose emails addresses, then claiming credit for getting the thread taken down… that was not a good look.

She’s not a scammer, and her business model is totally normal in that online area. But you might think twice about buying from her after that display.

BeMorePositive · 21/03/2024 22:18

It’s really getting quite tedious in here again. I don’t think there is any intention by the OP, or others in here to have a thread with a balanced view on this subject. There are clearly some people on this thread who have had and shared a positive experience (actually real life experience) of attending courses/memberships etc with Lisa Johnson. I am one of those people. Whilst this thread has been far more civil than the original thread, it’s clearly now down a cul de sac at the end of a one way street.

It’s resorting to petty arguments about semantics, grammar and who has the most screenshots. Some people are also apparently mortally offended and can’t let that go. Others are cross about the lack of negative reviews about Lisa and feel we are living in some dystopian ‘Lisa verse’ where she has managed to eliminate hundreds of disgruntled potential business owners.

i wish you all well and hope you find something more productive to do with your time in the future.

Bonsoir!

Carab13 · 21/03/2024 22:12

How?

MLM, multi level marketing

you sell a product
you recruit a team train them to do the same
you then train them people to build their own team
and so on

and you get paid on your down line

how is learning how to make a passive income multi level marketing?

TheShellBeach · 21/03/2024 22:09

The thing is, @Carab13 it did sound rather like an MLM.

Carab13 · 21/03/2024 22:09

Carab13 · 21/03/2024 22:06

But the original post the person was asking if anyone on here had done OTM and if so how they found it, to which loads of people jumped on who had never done it to say it sounded “MLM”

Carab13 · 21/03/2024 22:02

Recruited clients?

Can you explain what you mean?

I don’t want to get into a big row with People, I’m talking from experience.

if I was “recruited” to be a client then she’s done a good job, Lisa has marketed really well, showed me how she can solve a problem I had, which was to learn more about starting a business in the online world, to which she has followed through on. Everting she has taught me I have implemented and got new clients from and in return I now make a better income than I did as an employee working in corporate.

So from that good experience and results I have now invested in OTM because she sees through and over delivers

But that was one of the issues with the original thread. The OP wanted to hear from people who had done the course. That didn’t happen - anyone who expressed any positive experience was totally shot down.

I don't think that's really true, though.
I do think that things became fraught when Lisa insulted us all.

BeMorePositive · 21/03/2024 21:40

VillageOnSmile · 21/03/2024 21:23

The point of asking outsiders is quite different from asking the person running the course.

The OP wanted to hear from people who had done the course. She heard various take on LJ. Some positive, some negatives. What tipped the balance was LJ answering herself and her behaviour when faced with ‘hostility’

It’s a very normal thing to do. That why i go on trustpilot before ordering something from a company I don’t know. Or I use Which? Etc…
Pretty standard behaviour no?

How was Lisa supposed to reach out if the OP hadn’t expressed she had questions or worries?

if she’d had reached out to Lisa asking anything Lisa would have answered her

I know Lisa is good but telepathic she isn’t

Bought, I think you know what I am asking!!
If you’ve not had any experience from completing or taking part in any part of her business I’m unsure how you can give any justified advice

Actually you can give justified advice simply on the way she is recruiting her clients, which anyone can experience.
I have and my comments are based on that.

Oh come on. People can have valid opinions on a thing based on publically available facts and information. They don't need to have actually done/bought/experienced the thing itself to form an opinion on how the thing is presented, how the thing is marketed, how well the claims made for the thing stand up, how much evidence there is to support the claims made for the thing, how successful past purchasers of the thing have actually been etc etc.
