Banner advert in the app

Hi MNHQ,

There's a banner ad appearing in the ap (at the top) that makes the app visually really annoying to navigate. Will it be there permanently? It would be less bad at the bottom! Thanks!

I've checked a few other apps and they haven't had this inserted, so not the system.

I have it too, for the first time today, it's hateful all that movement.
Screenshot of the app with double ads on screen.
I am on iPhone and not updated yesterday afaik.
And it's one of the smaller screen phones so takes up even more of the screen.

I hate it- especially as it's the multi colour flashing sort.

Me too. iOS running the latest version of everything. It's really annoying. The app keeps crashing too.

I have this too and I can't remove it even after pressing 'report ad', the banner remains and the same ad comes straight back.
It's very annoying especially when paired with the usual ads that are strategically placed where your thumb lands when scrolling!

I have it too - updated the app today. I really really dislike it. Very distracting. I much preferred seeing the ads as part of the thread. Please change it back.

It dominates the screen (which I suppose is its purpose) but flickers when scrolling.

Yes it really does, especially as it's at the top. Every time I pull down to refresh feed I end up clicking on the advert by mistake 🙄

The gambling and monopoly ones are fucking annoying. If I want to see a slot machine flashing away I'll go to the pub.

Here as well, iOS. It wasn't like that this morning so the app may have updated itself automatically.

The banner is especially annoying when paired with the in thread ads.

Very annoying, have always used app. Never had this before.

The entire point of the app was that it was so basic, no features, nothing, so why has this appeared.

iPhone running latest version of mumsnet

Some ads have an 'x' but that just takes you to a google ad explanation. You can't actually remove the ad

I can't cope with these animated ads. It's too distracting. It doesn't matter what it's advertising, it's the amount of screen space being taken up and because they are animated. It's hurting my head.

Reluctantly logging out for now on my phone.
