Please, for the sake of all of our eyes, can we have an outright ban on people posting photos of shit, period blood clots, injuries and most of all, photos of their skanky genitals? No-one, apart from the OP’s doctor, needs to see this stuff and it’s frankly revolting. MN is not a fucking hospital, people should go to their doctor or A&E. It’s also a magnet for perverts.

To add, if you click on a link and see something that makes you uncomfortable, we are sorry for that. But there is nothing we can do to prevent that from happening - when you open any thread, you are essentially agreeing to see that content.

As we said, happy to deal with any concerns if you report them to us but we don't have a way to stop you from seeing content before we see it ourselves. Mumsnet is a post-moderated site and we make this clear - posts are not pending, pre vetted or waiting for a moderator to see it. Once a user hits 'post' the post is live.

I do think you need to just avoid the thread if they are titled appropriately - however ai do share your concern... there is one particular thread I recently reported in the childbirth section and something mg seems "off" with it... it seems to have been spanning many years but is account after account continuously posting really increasingly graphic photos of episiotomies... I don't know why but it doesn't seem like there just happens to be all these genuine posters posting such graphic pictures into the mums net void one after the other and there is something more sinister about it

If that was to happen, we would either edit the title to include a content warning, or ban the poster if we felt they were not genuine.

This isn't something that's limited to Mumsnet - it happens on many internet sites and we're not able to foresee when a poster will post an intimate photo before they do it. We do, however, deal with it once we've seen it. Pretty quickly, too!

I think the tool you are looking for is “get a fucking grip”.

You can buy it in various bottled forms - wine and gin being mumsnet favs. Or your GP can prescribe something in tablet form.

Oh no, bring them on - more gory the better. I love all that sort of thing, fascinating. You can learn a lot from photos and I always look online for examples of ailments.

My facebook feed is full of photos from my friend sharing images of her horse’s horrendous leg injury and how it’s healing - was right down to the bone and has taken a full year to cover.

Warnings yes, but otherwise let us post it all.

I’m happy to see anything (legal).

People keep referencing a sensitive content warning and blurred picture. Is this yet ANOTHER feature that doesn't work on the app? (as the photo today certainly didn't have either)

Come on MN, you need to sort this bloody app out, in part because of conversations like this where everyone assumes the same features are available across all platforms

Mumsnet are obviously aware of the thread as they have edited the title.

If the other poster is genuine (no reason so far to assume not) then they are really must be worried and this is in poor taste (more so than a photo woman’s body that you clicked on the sensitive content warning to view). It’s also a TAAT.

I am really concerned about the genital picture. What if it's actually an abuse photo? I won't go in to detail about why that could be but I really don't think it should be allowed.

Your title basically describes childbirth. Doctors often minimise women's pain and issues. There is nothing wrong with a woman asking for other women's opinions and support with medical issues, even ones that make you uncomfortable.

I'm sure some people don't like reading swear words every 2 seconds but the clue generally is in the title.

Disagree. The poster who is scared about having vulval cancer (assuming it’s a genuine thread) was looking for support because she’s terrified. I don’t think that’s the kind of thing MN should be preventing. Just don’t look.
