i do see that point, but for me it oversteps the mark because every time i post on here i'm aware that i'm concealing 99% of who i am. and i gather that to within a few decimal points so is everyone else. it's not about full disclosure on a website, especially not on MN where we don't use real names, don't go in overly much for profile info etc. so if someone comes looking for help on something very specific then i always reckon there's another vast iceberg of person floating there as well.
say for example, ectopic pregnancy, which is my thing in a way. people could troll about that (if they were weird) but it personally wouldn't bother me because at least i'd know i was putting good, responsibe info out onto the internet. but i don't think i could have said that for the first year after i had them, let's say. however, it would have taught me to remember that people are weird on the web, so maybe not a bad lesson.
wrt the money, i think it's because the minute money comes into it you have to wonder if that was the motivation in the first place, and that's not on imo. so thinking about it, it's the motivation that bothers me. if they're looking for attention because they're weird in the head, for me that's fine. it is different if they're looking for money from the out and coming up with a sob story to make it more likely to come forth. imo. but i do see what you mean. it's a tough lesson to learn i think, that people can be horrible, horrible scamming bastards.
