this thread now too long to read in one go!
If it's any help, my ds2 has been through several phases of not eating well, not gaining weight and once losing weight over the course of a month.
Best advice of paediatrician and health visitor was that since he seems healthy and happy and developing reasonably normally, we've just got to hang in there and give him higher fat foods than you'd normally choose. For ds2 that principally means he's been eating lots of sausages (well, one most days!), and cheese sauces wrapped round his favourite low calorie veggies (feel fraud complaining about ds who eats too many veggies).
Issues with him have included massive independent streak (therefore no mummy spoon feeding), lots of teething pain and a few dodgy tummies putting him of his food, and poor timing by me on cutting out bottles (only recently cut out mid-afternoon bottle, for second time - and he's now just over 16 months).
As this really has been going on for 11 months now, it does get wearing, and sometimes I look back and wonder how I could possibly have allowed him to eat so badly/ so little, over such long periods of time. However, he is now on an upward curve, and good eating days generally outnumber the bad ones.
So the advice from here is merely stick with it, indulge your dd as much as you dare, and believe that you'll both get through it.
Good luck and well done for getting a monster thread going!

Back to the eczema - someone at work recommended Dream Cream from Lush as being the bees knees for his little baby's rash.

Hope it helps your poor little scrap.

yingers74 · 30/11/2004 15:45

lilsmum, hello again and hope dd is getting better . Just thought I would say something about the whole eating thing. My dd is a good eater if you view it over a month! there are some days when she will eat everything in front of her then there are days when she will eat one spoonful then there are days when she will eat loads but only, for example, brown bread and grapes. I go through phases of being incredibly worried, angry, upset and accepting of it!! There are so many things that can make them go off their appetite and though it is hard you have to believe the advice that babies/toddlers will not starve themselves! Take care

MistressMary · 30/11/2004 15:40

I just keep bumping up my thread til someone does listen.
I keep on pestering.
They will succumb, they will succumb!
I hope you feel better now, it's not intentional.

whoops! "you're", not "your"

cariboo · 30/11/2004 14:43

Isn't this funny? I felt so excluded when I first joined that I changed my name. Then I stopped altogether for awhile. When I came back, it was for help. I received masses of support and that's how I lost my feeling of isolation! I think it's just an impression... there are so many messages to be read and although you read the ones your interested in, you can't take the time to chat to all.

lilsmum · 30/11/2004 14:39

Hi and good night at the same time lilsmum - just read your thread and there's some great advice and contacts there. Keep posting, I am new to mumsnet too, and it seems we all help where we can

MummyToSteven · 28/11/2004 00:20

am off to bed now
good night

MummyToSteven · 28/11/2004 00:10

Hi Lilsmum, just caught up with this again.
Sorry you are having such a tough time atm. I really feel the way your partner is treating you is unfair and completely unacceptable. what do you feel the main advantage to you is in staying with him? Is there anyone who knows how your DP is treating you? Has he always been like this with you?

only thing I can think of re:the eczema is not to bother using baby bath at all - I think it's fine just to use plain water on them.

take care

Really need to head to bed now, but will have a look out for this again over the next few days and get caught up then. Night lm - hope you have a good sleep and tomorrow is a brighter day for you.

Aero · 27/11/2004 23:41

Are you afraid of him? Is that the reason you're not getting on ATM? Or is it just everything, and do you want to be with him?

lilsmum · 27/11/2004 23:36

very controlling.. i.e if i am not here when he gets in from work i get loads and if i say i will be a hr if i go over that time i get grief, hes not bad all of the time tho

lilsmum · 27/11/2004 23:35

Forgot to add - ds2's been a bit off colour over the last few weeks and hasn't been eating much, buthas finally cut his first toth yesterday and his apetite seems to have returned. He's also mega whingy/clingy at the moment.
