*** Help Peter get a heart campaign*** who has contacts in the media??

Firstly, please could someone get permission from Misdee to contact the media, then perhaps post ideas on this thread before rushing out and emailing everyone on the web - once we have her permission we can all do what we can to help Peter.

Secondly, come on MNHQ, you have some 'serious' media contacts surely??

Lifestyle and News aren't written by the same journalists, by and large, and you don't really have time to be dealing with anything other than the news-sensitive parts of the majors. local papers tend to be weekly, plus that's not the coverage requ'd.

GMTV, This Morning a good bet because they can turn things round quickly but a national news show would be the best.

Well without being nasty, MN seems to generate a lot of easy copy for a lot of journos. Maybe it is payback time ?

the British Transplant Games started today in Edinburgh - lasting for four days, maybe we could get some coverage through this... what do you think??

yes I am bossy and no you can't specify who gets the heart
the good thing about appeals like this is that it can play on the conscience of a family who, having lost a loved one, might not have normally considered donation

er, you are a bit bossy, aren't you? i'm not turning it into a debate, i was just asking a question because i didn't understand what you were trying to achieve other than awareness. or are families allowed to specify who they want to receive the heart if they've seen the person on tv? if he's on the urgent list wouldn't he get it anyway if it fits the profile? once again, i'm just asking a question, not starting any sort of argument. i don't know how these things work, but i and my family are all on the donor list and carry cards. i carry dd's.

I really don't want this thread to turn into a debate. Family appeals for donors on tv are nothing new and often work, whilst raising the issue of organ donors lists.

i've got some, but not in news. can i ask, though, in all sincerity, what is likely to be achieved by a media campaign other than getting people to go on the organ donation list? i really don't understand.
