I know I've been away for a bit, but where did this come from in my absence??

tbh, I do find it a bit distasteful to have it there.

not wishing to be controversial at all. But v. curious.

It's not about the members of the Forces, where ever they happen to be or whatever ^tasks" they are being expected to carry out.

It's about their partners, who might just need a little support from people in the same situation.

And why would it be restricted to the Brits? Mumsnet isn't ...

i agree, i don't like what the forces have done in iraq, but from people i know, neither do they! also, forces do things, eg peacekeeping that are good?

doesn't seem distasteful to me. it doesn't exclude "sweethearts" from anywhere.

The new section was requested by some MNers (wives and partners of men in the Forces) so that they had somewhere to chat with other women in the same position, and to post those questions and problems which don't affect most other posters. Army housing, facing long stretches away from partner, worries about postings, that kind of thing.

Why would you find that distasteful?

prob. depends on your view of the British Army/Navy/Air Force and what they do. I guess.

I am assuming this 'facility' is restricted to the Brits??

and, have assumed this sort of discussion had already been gone through whilst I was away......
