tbh, I do find it a bit distasteful to have it there.

No, not stopping, or wish to stop, others posting on anything, unlike posters here who wish this legitiate point to be aired.

abortion - a woman's right to choose is my starting principle...did some peeps think I was "sanctity of life" and all of that? Nope. Not at all.

Still, dichotomy exists.

Why single out the Army?

When a terrorist comes into this country and blows up you or a member of your family, you will be ok with that? You wont sit there and ask why nothing was done to protect you?

  1. it isn't a "political" thread, just about not killing families, whosoever you are, no exceptions

  2. I really don't need the British army to defend my freedoms thank you.

  3. It occurs to me that it is inviting to 'turn a blind eye' to what the purpose of the British Army is.

Mumsnet forums are a fantastic support network for many people.
Why on earth should women linked to the forces be ostracized.

Unfortunately war is a fact of life. Whatever the rights and wrongs of a particular war, we as a country are fortunate to have a group of men and women who will sacrifice their lives for their country. I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to be married to someone in the forces - the fear, the uncertainty, the fact that their children don't see their fathers (or mothers) for months on end. Personally, I admire them immensely.

I assume Pan that you don't think abortion should be discussed on Mumsnet but perhaps you'd just confirm that.

Although I assume by saying our husbands' jobs are incompatiable with your every-so nice MN philosphy (cos you're such a lovely person aren't you?) you would be saying the littlelapin, who organised the Mile For Maude, shouldn't be on here because her husband is also one of us child-killers?

It is NOT a political Thread, your political opinions are yours, thankfully not everybody has those opinions.

The thread is for the wives girlfriends and families waiting at home for the men that if the whole world goes mad, will fight for your freedom to say what you have.

Fuck it - if no one else is going to respond properly then I will.
My husband went to Afghanistan and spent most of his time rebuilding a school and stopping the Taliban blowing up their own people.
It's because of people like him that idiots like you have the freedom to say such stupid things on public forums like this one.
And don't even get me started on the fact that your original post and subesuent pleas for an argument demonstrates why we should have a section of our own away from small-minded people like you who have no idea about anything.
We have enought to think about without wasting time on people like you.
There, now you've had your rise out of someone - go enjoy the rest of your day without worrying your husband will be shot.
