The difficulty with nicknames that have been used already is that obviously there are previous posts. And you don't really want to have a nickname with a posting history that's not your own - as said that would be confusing.

So what we think is that if you would really like a nickname and we find that it hasn't been used much - say only once or twice in March 2001 on the For Sale board - then we're happy to delete the previous posting history and transfer the nickname.

We'll publish a list of nicknames never used shortly (ie when Tech surfaces) and if the one you're desperate for isn't on the list you can let us know and we'll see if we can make it available.
