Good idea

I think Justine meant that calendars of women are usually sexual, not calendars for women. Unless I misread it?

meysey · 27/05/2004 09:23

great idea - I'm game

you could even have some extreme breastfeeding pics (the most adventurous places) like extreme ironing... up mountains, in jungles, in the supermarket, pub garden etc, (!!!!!!!!)

I haven't got anything that thrilling yet - DS1 in one hand and phone in the other a la action woman, DS2 at picnic... but I am sure someone has got something more exciting, or could set something up...

Tissy · 27/05/2004 08:42

I don't think women's calendars are sexual, unless they are filled with half-naked men! Calendars are often promotional, and I would be perfectly happy to see a collection of photos promoting breastfeeding- it could be sold as that, and people who don't want to see boobs don't have to buy one. It would not be excluding bottle-feeding mothers,as the point of the calendar is breastfeeding. By all means have an inclusive Mumsnet "diversity" calendar as well, but you're not having a pic of my scar, no way!

motherinferior · 27/05/2004 08:20

I agree with FF - let's get the variety in there. I was having the same unease as you - although I'd love a public pic of my not-so-little lovely (plus the baby, of course).

Fairyfly · 26/05/2004 23:42

Cesarian scars, breast feeding, bottle feeding, sn children, all of it, this was talked about before, a calender representing the beauty of a diverse world. I sound like craig david

Justine (mumsnet) · 26/05/2004 23:37

Put this on the other thread on this - Sonnysmum it's in the In the news topic - and thought would put it up here too to see what you all thought.
The calendar is a jolly idea and would certainly generate some news but having given it a bit of thought we are a wee bit uneasy about it. Here's why. Because the content of womens' calendars are usually sexual would we not be giving a slightly ambiguous message about breastfeeding - in fact exactly the opposite message to one the one we are trying to promote - breastfeeding is not sexual it's completely normal? Another slight concern we have (with the idea that mumsnet is representing all mums) is that it could be seen as a bit excluding of those who bottle fed for whatever reason. But then again quite possibly we are being ridiculously over-sensitive and have lost the plot... what does everyone think?

Think it's a great idea, I've got a couple of photos somewhere too.

sonnysmum, don't know where the start of the thread has gone but this started from a discussion about a b/feeding advert being censored in British cinemas, HTH.

George73 · 26/05/2004 22:48

I'm game I have no piccies yet but that could be arranged

Paula71 · 26/05/2004 22:36

Great idea!

I am insanely jealous of mums who were successful at breastfeeding. If I have another baby then I will have another go (hopefully it won't be under such strained circumstances so will work out this time. Oh and just the one this time!)

It is appalling that there is still a stigma attached to it.

sonnysmum · 26/05/2004 22:30

I'm being v.dim & can't work out how to find the beginning of this thread....? What? Why? Where? When etc....!

pesme · 26/05/2004 21:35

I have a good one of dd latching on in the operating theatre!

katzguk · 26/05/2004 21:34

i have a comedy photo where dd's head is considerably smaller than my boob

Spod · 26/05/2004 21:20

dont have any photos but would be happy to have some taken

muddaofsuburbia · 26/05/2004 21:18

No photos - only video on ds' homepage - it's a bit grainy but all very tasteful - I'm on the phone at the time.

gothicmama · 26/05/2004 21:16

I've got some photo's if you need them I look tired in them dd looks content

Zerub · 26/05/2004 21:12

Yes, I think its a good idea. I don't have any photos though.

Dh once accidentally took a photo of a friend breastfeeding (he thought he was taking a lovely photo of friend cuddling baby, didn't notice she was feeding) and was really embarassed. (Friend wasn't at all embarassed). But it made dh hyper-careful not to photo me.

Are we talking explicit, everything out, new-mum bf'ing photos? Or discreet, mum-who's-got-the-hang-of-it, you-can't-really-tell photos?

SoupDragon · 26/05/2004 20:10

No photos here I'm afraid. It never crossed my mind to have any photos done.

AussieSim · 26/05/2004 20:07

I have a couple of good photos I think I could donate - nothin raunchy of course ...

suzywong · 26/05/2004 19:59

Splendid idea
Count me in (any excuse to flash a knocker)

acnebride · 25/05/2004 23:15

Superb, superb, let's do it.
there was a thread a while ago where somebody said that the only person who had ever complained about bf in public was a teenage girl. we got any teenagers on mn?

KateandtheGirls · 25/05/2004 23:13

I think its a great idea. I'm only sorry that I don't have any photos of me breastfeeding my baby, and now it's too late. I never thought about it before, but I wish I'd had someone take a picture of us before it was too late.
