Dear MN
This site should be good, but it is full of people who should be getting help in RL.
Parents or carers should be spending time playing with their children instead of typing rubbish on here.
And then COD and all that stuff. Oh my.
I was touched when I joined and helped in the Xmas appeal and it was well planned.
The receiver has been having a hard time, I know and i was happy to give to anyone to make their Xmas abit brighter.
But, but what pisses me off when they then post about expensive gifts they brought for their kids, things I couldnt afford to give my kids this year. Whats all that about? Just didnt think did they!
One good thing has come out of it, and that is this experience has taught me a good lesson for the New Year and that is to hold those who are your friends and family in RL close to you and stop mucking around and wasting your time with people here who are trying to be funny, put you down or just offer rubbish advice.
Its all too much for a simple mum like me. I wish you all good luck in the future, but im off.
Only stayed 3 months, so take this as my notice of leaving.
I hope you all have a better and Happier New Year especially to those who truly deserve it like martianbishop.
Kind regards

I don't think the Christmas swap was solely about the financially wealthy bestowing their trifles on those who couldn't afford anything at all.

You say your receiver has been having a hard time this year - why not send on that basis and not worry about whether they can afford to recarpet their roof with gold leaf or whatever it is you're envious of?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/12/2006 00:17

I hate to see posts like this.

twinsetandpearls · 30/12/2006 00:16

Maybe Jools which is sad, I think we can be quite a scary place and people can be misunderstood very easily, I know I get pissed of with everyone on here every few months but always come back.

Hope you do the same NotForMe.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 30/12/2006 00:16

How exactly?

Twinklemegan · 30/12/2006 00:14

I think you've all just reinforced the reason why NotForMe is leaving!

JoolsToo · 30/12/2006 00:13

It's a valid post.

Goodbye, good luck and Happy New Year.

SantasFattymumma · 30/12/2006 00:12

im so sorry you feel like that. I was a very gratefull reciever and i can fully understand your frustration at seeing a post bragging about expensive gifts if you had sent something for the Christmas scheme.

I think some of your post is a little strongly worded in as much as you are acusing regular posters of not caring for their children properly...and as for the rubbish advice, people offer advice - you decide whether it is worth taking or not.

hotmulledwinemama · 30/12/2006 00:12

The reason I'm not playing with my children is because they are asleep.

I for one have found lots of tremendous advice from many mners.

You pick and choose - I'm not in any of the cliques and just dip in.

It's a chatroom - what did you expect - mothers are all different and want different things.

Twinklemegan · 30/12/2006 00:12

So sorry NotForMe. I know what you mean but there really is some good stuff on here too, you know. Have you joined a postnatal thread? - they're full of really genuine people giving mutual help and support. Very sorry to hear about the Xmas appeal thing - that would have pissed me off bigtime. I've spend months ignoring all the chat threads - just started posting recently when I'm feeling flippant but I take it all with a very large pinch of salt. There's definitely a place for letting off steam but it's been going way too far. Please don't leave. There are lots of people like you on here, really. We need to stick together I say. But if you do still go, then Happy New Year to you and your family.

nutcracker · 30/12/2006 00:11

Hmmmm you'll have every reciever now wondering if it is them you are on about.

I have posted about what gifts my kids got, but most were brought by family.

TinsellyRhino · 30/12/2006 00:09

yeah, why hide??, and what right have you to decide what I am like ???

twinsetandpearls · 30/12/2006 00:09

although they will probably work it out and be offended anyway.

twinsetandpearls · 30/12/2006 00:08

I think she doesn't want to offend whoever she sent gifts to.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 30/12/2006 00:08

Why couldn't you post this under your regular name if you are going anyway?
