Dear MN
This site should be good, but it is full of people who should be getting help in RL.
Parents or carers should be spending time playing with their children instead of typing rubbish on here.
And then COD and all that stuff. Oh my.
I was touched when I joined and helped in the Xmas appeal and it was well planned.
The receiver has been having a hard time, I know and i was happy to give to anyone to make their Xmas abit brighter.
But, but what pisses me off when they then post about expensive gifts they brought for their kids, things I couldnt afford to give my kids this year. Whats all that about? Just didnt think did they!
One good thing has come out of it, and that is this experience has taught me a good lesson for the New Year and that is to hold those who are your friends and family in RL close to you and stop mucking around and wasting your time with people here who are trying to be funny, put you down or just offer rubbish advice.
Its all too much for a simple mum like me. I wish you all good luck in the future, but im off.
Only stayed 3 months, so take this as my notice of leaving.
I hope you all have a better and Happier New Year especially to those who truly deserve it like martianbishop.
Kind regards

Maybe she is talking about me, cos it is 11am here in Oz.

I'm not playing with my dd.

That's cos dh has taken her out on her bike so I can have an hour to myself as I play with her all week!

hunkermunker · 30/12/2006 00:30

I love it.

Much better than the how-do-you-do bollocks you have to endure time after time in RL

louii · 30/12/2006 00:30

Leave, stay, does anyone really care?

Twinklemegan · 30/12/2006 00:30

When I first joined MN I posted some opinions in good faith and it was like jumping into a firepit! In real life people tend to be polite for at least a little while, but on here it's in at the deep end. It's not just this site by the way, but for someone not used to posting on web forums it can come as a shock to the system.

lemonice · 30/12/2006 00:28

I have left and come back as my old self which is quite weird instead of the people i was in btween

hotmulledwinemama · 30/12/2006 00:28

I haven't 'jumped' on nfm.

However, I am going to respond to a post from someone making sweeping statements about parents not some parents not playing with their children etc. Her post is at midnight - not 10 am in the morning - not that it really makes any difference but ykwim.

I am typing rubbish on mnet because my children are asleep! I have been playing with them all day - this is me time!

hunkermunker · 30/12/2006 00:27

Really, Twinklemegan?

Sorry.

I never mean to upset anyone. I just get carried away. I have small demonic creatures living under my fingernails. I try and try not to post when they're at their peak strength, but they overpower me sometimes

hunkermunker · 30/12/2006 00:27

VVVQV

Twinklemegan · 30/12/2006 00:26

LOL Hunker. I remember being quite upset by a post of yours on one of my threads a while back, but I've toughened up now and I can take it!

mysonsmummy · 30/12/2006 00:25

notforme - if thats how the feel then why change your name. confront the person if thats how its making you feel and give them a chance to defend themselves. i would be put out as well if it was me.

twinkle - what do you mean - sorry i dont get what you mean?? thanks

Spider solitaire is more entertaining currently ......

Twinklemegan · 30/12/2006 00:25

I x-posted with some of you when I said you'd reinforced her reasons for leaving, so my post wasn't referring to all of you. I just think that people on here can be pretty abrupt which is fine if you've come across each other before, but it can be really off-putting to a newbie.

hunkermunker · 30/12/2006 00:23

I don't know if there's a great swathe of jumpy lynch-like posts that I can't see though - I don't think the response on this thread has been particularly strong, really.

Mind you...that's me saying that...I'll probably call someone a wanker in a moment.

[loose cannon]

Hunker, you're a wanker.

See, there she goes again.

[sigh]

whensantagotstuckupAITCHimney · 30/12/2006 00:23

goodness, and there was i thinking that NotForMe hadn't been jumped upon at all. am i not reading these threads properly?

SantasFattymumma · 30/12/2006 00:23

ive not jumped or rounded on anyone!

nutcracker · 30/12/2006 00:22

But notforme can't possibly know the recievers full circumstances.
Like i said further down, I have posted about what stuff my kids had and yep some of them were pricey things but thats because they have generous grandparents and uncles etc.
Other recievers have probably done exactly the same.

Twinklemegan · 30/12/2006 00:22

Ditto twinsetandpearls!

TinsellyRhino · 30/12/2006 00:22

"This site should be good, but it is full of people who should be getting help in RL."

"Parents or carers should be spending time playing with their children instead of typing rubbish on here"

thats valid and fair is it?

JoolsToo · 30/12/2006 00:21

That's it exactly tsap

We all feel like it from time to time, and nfm has posted about how she is feeling therefore it's valid.

hunkermunker · 30/12/2006 00:20

I didn't do any jumping, just replied. Isn't that the point of posting - to get replies?

twinsetandpearls · 30/12/2006 00:20

It is horrible the first time you are lynched by the mob, it has happended to me countless times and on occasions it still upsets me.

twinsetandpearls · 30/12/2006 00:19

ledodgychristmasjumper beacuase we have all, myslef included, jumped on Notforme, although the thread title did invite such a response.

I imagine it must be quite frustrating if you can not give your kids everything they want but give up time and money to buy a gift for a child that you don't know amd then you find out those children got things you couldn't give your kids. A new poster may feel a bit conned and upset as they have not built the rapport with other posters that oldies have done. You could also say however that a gift should be given without conditions.

Twinklemegan · 30/12/2006 00:19

Because she posted with some valid comments and you immediately rounded on her. That can be pretty off-putting if you're a newcomer believe me.
