Dear MN
This site should be good, but it is full of people who should be getting help in RL.
Parents or carers should be spending time playing with their children instead of typing rubbish on here.
And then COD and all that stuff. Oh my.
I was touched when I joined and helped in the Xmas appeal and it was well planned.
The receiver has been having a hard time, I know and i was happy to give to anyone to make their Xmas abit brighter.
But, but what pisses me off when they then post about expensive gifts they brought for their kids, things I couldnt afford to give my kids this year. Whats all that about? Just didnt think did they!
One good thing has come out of it, and that is this experience has taught me a good lesson for the New Year and that is to hold those who are your friends and family in RL close to you and stop mucking around and wasting your time with people here who are trying to be funny, put you down or just offer rubbish advice.
Its all too much for a simple mum like me. I wish you all good luck in the future, but im off.
Only stayed 3 months, so take this as my notice of leaving.
I hope you all have a better and Happier New Year especially to those who truly deserve it like martianbishop.
Kind regards

I think i too would feel a little upset at spending money on a gift for someone who says they are hard done by and then posts all the expensive presents their kids got. I am hard done by lol but i still know that my parents will spend a fortune on my kids despite that and so would not suggest my kids would be getting conkers and oranges for christmas!

With regards to RL, I own a parenting site and am on there frequently...when my kids are not asleep but contrary to a lot of peoples beliefs, kids dont need to be played with all day long, unless you want to end up having to do that for the rest of their childhood! a good 30 mins play in my eyes every couple of hours is a lot better than half hearted all day playing when you cant think of anymore stupid faces to pull and if you hear that stupid play mobile go off one more time you will throw it out the window.

This is RL in my opinion, so its the internet, but its real people in their RL that are posting about it and getting help and support that maybe arent on tap in thir RL.

Whats the big deal?? Most people know on here i am an avid she who must not be named mum, and have defended her, been attacked many a time, but i still come on here and still enjoy it...thicker skins for all!

Mmmm, Vin Diesel . . .

Michelle Rodriguez had an affair w/Kylie's boyfriend, Olivier Martinez. I'm sure Kylie's a nice person and all, but I can sort of see why Olivier might go w/Michelle.

She's got to be at least 4 inches taller than Kylie .

Monkeytrousers · 30/12/2006 01:25

Yes, I got it thanks! x

expatinscotland · 30/12/2006 01:23

I sussed that out when I got the package, MT!

I stand properly rumbled .

Did you get my card, though? I was going to have DD1 'sign' it, too, but she was in one of her Scottish girl moods .

expatinscotland · 30/12/2006 01:22

I re-read, too, MT.

Great post.

Sorry about my earlier one.

I post at my job b/c it's boring and no one cares that I post all day as long as I pick up the phone when it rings, greet people when they come in nicely and do their photocopying.

And I post in the evenings after my children go to bed b/c my husband works pretty much every evening and weekends, too, but I can't go out b/c someone has to stay w/the children.

Now 'The Fast and the Furious' is on and damn, say what you like about mah boy Vin Diesel, but damn he is mighty fine!

Monkeytrousers · 30/12/2006 01:21

Hijack alert -

Expat, please forgive me for not sending you an xmas card..I was part of a ruse to get your address to send said gifts. Hope you and the girls got some noce ones and forgive me...!

Thanks for the fotie though

Monkeytrousers · 30/12/2006 01:18

Sorry, just reads the rest of the thread.

Can we p;ease just stop getting all hyper sensitive about 'receiving' posters. Wasn't the defining element in the whole 'she who must not be named' debacle the savage sense of humour and irony??

This isn't a BBC forum - thank fuck - where this post would be pulled for using the fuck work, FFS!

Yes, people log on to connect, but if it's not for them then there are plenty of other forums where they will fit in and self censor to their hearts content!

Thank fuck for mumsnet - for parents of stronger constitutions!

expatinscotland · 30/12/2006 01:14

I got some good stuff for Xmas this year. As gifts.

I write crackin' thank you notes!

But nah, 'twasn't me. Didn't go hog wild w/spending and haven't got any savings - although, I did buy the girls some Premium Bonds w/the money the ILs gave 'em, b/c the draws you get entered into are GREAT!

Mainly that whole practice of paying you early for Xmas just BLOWS! Then you're six weeks till your next cheque.

Take it from me, that blows worse than that storm out there.

expatinscotland · 30/12/2006 01:10

Bye!

Can you leave the wine for the rest of us?

Monkeytrousers · 30/12/2006 01:08

Haha!

That's the funniest OP I've read in ages!

PinkTinsel · 30/12/2006 01:03

snap IDLC, am going to be justifying every expensive thing i mention on MN now

idontlikecrusts · 30/12/2006 01:00

Rofl about the Dyson. I've been drinking expensive Champagne too and posted about it (again not bought by me) tonight.

I may never speak of any future wealth without fear!

PinkTinsel · 30/12/2006 00:54

lol, she has IDLC hope all mine have..... i posted about owning a dyson earlier and it's freaking me out now that i'm this posters receiver........ (my old hoover was about to blow up and we got child benefit money and i figured a clean house was of benefit to my babies just in case you were wondering)

idontlikecrusts · 30/12/2006 00:50

lol twinset and your paranoia!

Well the email doesn't have to be accusatory either does it.

Franny has been here for more than 3 months hasn't she? Please say yes. I am sure she has but paranoia is paranoia afterall!

PinkTinsel · 30/12/2006 00:49

thats what i mean twinset, all the receiver will be feeling pretty shitty and paranoid reading this, even if our lo's didn't get any expensive presents!

twinsetandpearls · 30/12/2006 00:48

But surely getting an accusatory email would be quite unpleasant as well. But then again only one perons would have been involved rather than mass paranioa. I am starting to feel paranoid and guilty and I didn't even getany mumsnet gifts.

PinkTinsel · 30/12/2006 00:45

agree with idon'tlikecrust, if you have doubts about your receiver why not take it up with them and make sure you know the full story?

also i believe some of the receivers were nominated not because of money troubles but just because they've had a really shitty year and deserved a bit of christmas spirit.

idontlikecrusts · 30/12/2006 00:41

Jeezuz! I am paranoid again now.

I've been posting my life's woes on here this week both when the children have been asleep and when I should have been playing with them.

I also posted about presents that were expensive today such as a Gameboy, but that were bought unexpectedly by grandparents.

I'd be pissed off at the suggested insensitivity but maybe you could have taken it up directly with the person involved rather than venting so scathingly on here?

twinsetandpearls · 30/12/2006 00:39

I that why I ahve gone up two dress sizes since posting on mumsnet, it isn;t because I eat tool much but all my extra layers of hide I am developing.

SantasFattymumma · 30/12/2006 00:37

twinkle - i was ousted as a troll on one of my first posts...im still here.

you have to learn that your are asking somewhere near 250,000 people their opinion on your situation...people are going to have differing views. if you cannot handle the opinions that don't match your own then dont post.

it gets quite irritating seeing posts like this. if you dont lilke it here then dont post. dont twll us you have been here five miinutes, no one knows you but you have changed your name anyway just so you can flounce...just piss off quietly fgs.

Yes NFM had a valid point about the supposed misplaced generosity and as i states, i can understand her frustration but there is no need to come and post in a way that is bound to offend the majority of this site.

You however Twinkle have posted, got burned and learned to grow and extra layer of hide...you'll fit in well my dear

twinsetandpearls · 30/12/2006 00:36

But when you are upset at something and stating a view point that you know is going to be unpopular you do feel jumped upon esecially whe you are new even though that may not be the aim of the posters. I think that perhaps if NOTforme had used a different thread title this would have gone down better and perhaps not made daftremrks about people not playing with their children.

mysonsmummy · 30/12/2006 00:34

sorry twinkle - i understand what you meant now (am very new to this)

ledodgychristmasjumper · 30/12/2006 00:33

I don't think I rounded on the Op at all I think I asked a valid question.

Twinklemegan · 30/12/2006 00:32

It was only because it was a sensitive subject for me Hunker. I've learned my lesson now. Actually, no I haven't. I started a thread on another sensitive subject recently under an alter ego and I still got offended! But that's my fault because I should know what to expect by now!

SantasFattymumma · 30/12/2006 00:31

just don't slam the door, my kids are asleep
