Would you like to test an early version of our Talk app?

Hello,
We've been working on a test version of a new Talk app and could do with your help putting it through it's paces.

If you have an iPhone with iOS8 (sorry no iPods, iPads or android for now) and you'd like a sneak preview then head on over to this sign up page and sign up so we can send you an invite (it doesn't have to be your Mumsnet email address just one you can access).

The app is very much a beta version and everything may not work perfectly. If you find something that's broken or think there is something missing, please let us know.

Ideally we'd like you to use the app to read and post on threads and do whatever you normally do in Talk. Please note, this version of the app is LIVE and anything you post will appear on the Mumsnet site for all to see.

At the mo this is for registered mumsnetters only so if you can't see the sign up page please check you are logged in.

Thanks in advance for your help - looking forward (I think) to your feedback.

It would be nice if you were able to look at a poster's profile as I've been on a couple of threads where the poster has put photos on their profile and I can't look at them on here

In general I really like the app and have found it easy to use

I would love to have a "show original post" option for when you go into a bookmarked thread - currently to re-read the original post you need to show older posts and then scroll back to the top

I wanted to post re fab flipping from the updated version of the ap but I couldn't post from it either.

BTW. - I can't actually post on the new version. I had to come out of it and post on my old mobile version.

I love the new version with the flip. What would be so cool is of when you swipe a post sideways you have the option to "quote post".

Updated to the new version and now I can't post! It says "oops you've lost your network connection". I haven't. I tried logging out and back in but have the same error message Hmm

I've just updated - but now I can't get rid of the threads with [m] sticky. I could hide them before. Is there a function so I can off "stickies" like I have in the mobile site?

Yes, I've had several where it's told me that I was unsuccessful and so I've tried again, only to find I've posted twice. I'm being a little more circumspect now and waiting to find out if my phone speaks the truth...

Loading posts has got much slower since around Thursday 6th August. I'm on an iPhone 5. Using wifi or 4G. I've given up and gone back to the mobile site.

Deleted threads just disappear, unlike on the mobile site.

Mummytime, I noticed that too (think I mentioned upthread, possibly).

I really miss the search option. And I did wonder if access to our accounts & messages could be an option, for when you want to name change for the sake of preserving anonymity, and communicating 'off-board'.

Yes - I also dislike the ads in the middle of threads that make it look as though I've been sent a private message.

Also - this is the only long thread I'm on / reading - and the scrolling is a pain. Would there be any way to jump to the end of a thread?

Another thing - the photographs look good - and open quicker than on the safari version I usually browse on. But, I can't zoom in on them. I did like being able to take a closer look at some of the photos posted so I'd miss that.

I DO like the app though! And I've been using it loads and getting used to it. Smile
