Why do so many posts have £ instead of just £?

Why is there an  in front of the £ on so many posts? I use a laptop when browsing on MN and have a perfectly good £ on my keyboard, so where is the extra  coming from on other posts? What is the poster using to get a £ sign from?

I was posting that test from an ipad and not a phone to be fair.

sanfairyanne · 19/06/2015 20:40

it converts it on my phone from what i type, a pound sign, to A£

cozietoesie · 19/06/2015 20:39

Ah Well. I'd still blame the App on general principle. Smile
