I can understand to a certain extent where dejags is coming from.

I have found myself getting wound up by threads on here recently in a way that i never thught possible on an internet forum.

I'm not saying nobody should mention if they are unhappy about something, or think that something should change, but it's the general non-specific whinging about holier than thou types, dumbing down, smugness, etc etc that gets me. If something upsets you on a thread it is best dealt with directly on that thread or in private with the person who offended you.

If you don't like things round here, do something constructive to try to change it, or leave.

And if you want to leave, just go. Threads like this do nothing for morale and I can't honestly see what purpose they achieve unless the OP is hoping for a stream of "Oh don't go" comments, or is thinking that their departure will teach us all a good old lesson and that once they have gone we will see the error of our ways.

Something else I don't get is why people (not just dejags ) start threads saying "Im going and this is why..." Do they think everyone will sit up and go "Oh my! That's right! let's stop immediately!". If you want to go, just go. Whenever Ive been bored/p-ed off I just disappear for a week or so with no fuss.

Agree MN has evolved over the past few years and will continue to do so, and that is what makes it interesting. There are some topics I'm tired of and generally avoid, mainly as my kids are a bit older too and my experience less relevant, but others are just starting out.

F&Z, no offence intended to Dejags, and I apologise if it came accross that way. I was just writing my own pesonal opinion. And as I dont yet find MN a bore I am defending what I find to be a useful and interesting resource to parents.

As I ended it's a shame to loose someone who has such a wealth of experience they could share and possible help others with.

dejags, I've been getting more and more bored on here (but unable to leave) becasue of all the things you've said.

I actually think I'm outgrowing MN because I've been here so much over the years. I only really post on the trivial threads and use it to maon about stuff. It very very rare that I get involved in any "big" threads because I simply can't be arsed 99% of the time.

I wish I could leave, I really do. Please let us know who the rest of the trip and the PG goes.

I thought the thread was quite funny, and tame in comparison to some threads I've read on here.

but ghosty nobody was upset on that thread, nobody was fighting, nobody said they were offended (except by thte tackiness)
everyone was just saying how they felt.
(I didn't post on it, btw, I just went to see what the fuss was about and I was boggled by how utterly calm and funny the thread was.)
