I think its superb that women have other women to campaign for them on this issue

Lets face it if it were left up to blokes we'd all be on bottles by now

personally I think it would really help to calm the site down. because I do hate to see the "all pile in" threads, when perfectly reasonable people get such a hard time, and get so hurt but I am extremely inhibited from saying anything anymore since the last time I tried to intervene and say something at the time and on the thread, I got attacked so personally. it might help if there were people who had the responsibility for calming things down, because that might avoid some of the worst excesses, when people try and post against the orthodoxy.

If there wasn't such a crappy breastfeedig culture, or lack of one, in the UK there would be no need for us "breastfeeding militants" to be trying to help women out, in our spare time, for nothing

HC is a ruddy antenatal teacher and you would think she must know the best places for women to get help and support with breastfeeding. A colleague of hers was having a problem feeding her baby at the weekend and who did HC suggest she phone for help - a midwife? her doctor? ANYBODY who is being paid to look after women and babies and might actually be expected to be able to help with a feeding problem? No, she got her to phone me. Now that is sad.

Trying to help other women breastfeed tend to make you feel fairly militant about the things hindering them, IME. If you don't feel the same way, fine, but don't throw insults at those of us who do, please
