She delivered her baby at 28 weeks-ish ... I can't find her thread to see how her and baby are doing :( I posted on it, but can't see it in 'im on' and when I do a search it looks like it might have been deleted?

Can't stop thinking about this lady bless her! Can anyone help?

Frightening....

I lose my faith in human nature.

HerRoyalNotness · 28/12/2014 16:37

She had even pm'd me to see how I was getting on as she hadn't heard crom me in awhile. And there I was with prom and placental abruption resulting in an emcs at 23w +4d our dD being 1lb 3oz and us losing her 2 wks later.

What a despicable thing of her to do.

I'm glad I wrote on the back of the parcel if the hospital couldn't find that patient to give the blanket to another family.

Theyvallgone · 28/12/2014 16:10

Wow, I'm shocked. I never considered that she was a troll - and I thought I had quite a good bullshit detector!

Thinking back on it now some of the medical details were a little iffy, and he certainly looked a decent size ... despite having lost his waters 10 weeks earlier :/

How awful. Cannot believe people actually gain pleasure from lying to people online??

Dixie, I thought the same thing about the pic.

I had a horrific pregnancy and prem birth and the thought that someone would make this stuff up and draw in those who have shared similar experiences is sickening.

Well if she was a troll, she must have lifted a lot of medical detail from elsewhere, because the level of detail she provided about her condition (several posts questioning whether an untreated UTI caused PROM) sounded more than plausible to me.

usualsuspect333 · 28/12/2014 12:13

Maybe she had been through it at some point and was just replaying it in real time.

Or maybe she just made the whole thing up and was enjoying all the attention.

Don't think we will ever know.

lavendersun · 28/12/2014 11:53

Dixie - I saw the baby pics and have my own from my own DC, tbh troll isn't something I think about so it didn't enter my head that this long drawn out story with relevant facts was anything other than someone having an awful time of it.

I do know of someone in real life who made up the most terrible things - unthinkable things that included stories about DCs.

Herroyal - I hope you are managing OK. You did a lovely thing and the parents of a little baby somewhere in a NICU will be thinking of your kindness.

lotsofcheese · 28/12/2014 11:52

And the OP kept the thread going for so long - must have been over 2 months?

As a mum of 2 prems, it is a journey I wish I'd never have to take. How someone can keep up that pretence for so long, defies belief really.

Has it actually been confirmed that troll was the reason it was pulled?

Stripylikeatiger · 28/12/2014 11:34

It just seems like such an odd thing to do, I do feel sad for the people who make things up like this, their mindset must be so dysfunctional to get enjoyment out of creating such stories.

I definitely think they fall into the latter category. Even if there is mental illness involved this kind of trolling is so calculated that I fail to have any sympathy for any of them.

I have posted about this before but I used to be a moderator on another site where a prolific and well known poster was discovered having invented multiple personas over the years, all of whom had serious disabilities/health problems. These posters befriended people and then ended up dying. Worst of it is that I know who she is in rl (small community) although I don't know her personally I know people who do.

Methe · 28/12/2014 11:06

What was up with the pictures?

The lengths people go amazes me. I was on another parenting forum many years ago and there was a prolific poster who had twins (I think) then was pregnant shortly after with twins again had complications various friends her dh etc posted and it was all an elaborate troll.

This will make it hard for me to believe anyone ever again sadly.

Ellisisland · 28/12/2014 10:50

Thanks Methe we are doing very well and should be home soon Smile

What upsets me as well is that in my case I posted here for advice about Prom as I knew so little about it and wasn't comfortable with what the medical staff were telling me. People on here were very helpful with their stories and advice which helped me a lot. However if trolls continue to post upsetting stories of lies then it's puts of genuine people seeking advice and others helping.

MistAndAWeepingRain · 28/12/2014 10:27

People do often troll about pregnancy complications and stillbirth. Back in 2009 I was part of an 'expecting club' on another website. We were quite a small group and used to post daily about our pregnancies and seek support and advice. When we were all about 8 months pregnant, one of the other women posted that her baby had been stillborn. This was accompanied by pictures, her birth story and a request that we make donations in her sons name to SANDS. It turned out to all be a lie. She was never even pregnant. She was an attention junkie I think. Very upsetting at the time but an important lesson for me - never get over invested in the life of someone you only 'know' on the internet.

PuggyMum · 28/12/2014 10:23

How horrid that people would do this. There was so much support from those who had been through similar.

I just don't understand why people would do this for kicks. What sad lives they must lead.

Methe · 28/12/2014 10:14

There are 2 reasons a person would troll about a thing like that:

  1. they are seriously mentally unwell
  2. they are a nasty bastard who gets pleasure from hurting people.

Sadly I think most trolls fall in the second category. I posted on the thread too but didn't hang around as I've had 3 pprom pregnancies myself and it's all a bit raw and tbh I'm fed up of giving my story only to find out that it was a waste of my time. I'm going to ask for my Pprom thread to be removed I think, I worry about it being used for research.

A couple of years ago we had Dizzy Mare with a similar tale.

I won't tell you what I think trolls deserve.

EllisIsland I hope things are going as well as they can :)

lavendersun · 28/12/2014 07:41

I posted on that thread. I can't imagine why someone would make something like that up. No one who has been through anything remotely similar would understand it. Shocking and very sad.

IME these memories and experiences remain incredibly raw for a very very long time. If Nobbly is indeed a troll she/he must have little regard for the feelings of others.

Perhaps Nobbly needs professional help.
