Mumsnet mafia ??!!!

Am a really new poster to Mumsnet having just found out I am pregnant for the first time EDD June 1st, have been surfing the site and making a few posts but have been very surprised by the amount of vitriol in some of the posts on certain subjects, and am amazed about people outing other people and everyone seems to know everyone elses business - more than you might expect on a forum? How does that work?? Is there like a bunch of people who all live in the same road or something? Just wondering as on most forums I post on there are lots of people sharing views but it rarely gets that personal inn terms of people getting to know other people off line. Made me wonder if there is a Mumsnet mafia in place!! Makes me alightly concerned about posting my thoughts and feelings about the things that are happening to me and about how my privacy will be respected.

my response to enid was an ironic one

i think my first post was a week or so ago when i discovered that at 34 I am knocked up for the first time and in my quest for information and someone to talk to I found Mumsnet.

So Welsh Boris, you can think what you like but I was making an observation as someone who had a fresh take on things

Take it as you will .... not my problem, I was looking to find people to talk to about how i am feeling and to get advice from people who know

So you were never a newbie then? What an acheivement. Perhaps mumsnet ought to put a up a little sign saying new members are certainly not welcome. Then all the older members can argue between themselves and spontaenously combust with all the fighting.

The thing is, the suspicions and undercurrents and bits of gossip surrounding those threads have been going on for months. It has reached a crescendo...not very nice but there it is. It had to happen. That much gossip, that many things to speculate about, an anonymous forum, it was always going to end like that.

The lesson is, if you're going to make stuff up, be better at it.
