Completely understand why you felt/feel hurt WB. My confusion lies in your (apparent) lack of empathy for the innocent parties... and in your self-confessed enjoyment of the thread in question. It just made me feel a bit sick.

creepyjess- i spoke to the person in question on msn all the time. i listened to her, trusted her, and yes even liked her.i told her things i dont tell many people, i listened to her problems and spent lots of time away from MN worrying about her

turns out she is a liar, an attention seeker and an adulteress.

the man in question had already outed himself on the thread on friday, she had given many hints to her identity. and the poster "thisissick" gave away MASSIVE hints. the speculating and guessing was pissing me off. i felt hurt

charlyp, I'm new here too, found Mumsnet after a friend mentioned it in connection with a product review for a car seat! Although I admit, I have lurked a fair bit before posting (shame on me). I know what you mean, it seems like a lot of mums know each other really well, but I kind of thought that was just from the sheer length and scope of them posting. All the recent hoo ha, I don't understand, and don't really want to, so have steered well clear.

I do kinda wonder how some of the old-timers feel about us newbies, because it seems there has been some unpleasant things going on lately, but you guys Mumsnet has been in the press a fair bit of late so people do find out about it. We're not all provacative lurkers who emerge when things get ugly. I reckon you just become more aware then.

To be perfectly honest, all joking aside (but with no intention of being actually nasty).. I can't quite work you out WB. I have always read your posts with amusement in the past, and often with respect.. but the night you named and shamed, with no thought to the innocent parties.. then balatantly admitted to having lots and lots of fun on the thread.. and then said that YOU TOO had been on the receiving end of a cheating other-half, I was left quite incredulous.. and confused by your motives.

MN is far more like RL than anyone realises, people may be more 'open' and vociferous when anonymous, but they also form bonds, feel offended, there are still 'real' people 'behind' the names etc.
