Brain wave to raise fund for MN!!

what do ya all recon to a cook book, which is full of nutrious, wholesome meals, but also cheap for those on budgets?

thought it could be done like the MN books they already sell, or do u have to have a qualification or something for cook books?

yes WW - it's quite odd - I wonder if the towers are watching/home tonight??

as u say if mum never taught u how to do proper meals then it would help - and without moaning about my age group as there's some fab ones of us about a lot of the younger folks do tend to do the whole chuck it away society and pre packed process stuff cos they don't know how to do anything differnt (not saying I don't use that but when I was looking for a new cook book there was about 10 that I wanted to cover the stuff I fancied, so i'm thinking the one book to cover everythign iycwim)

I guess there wouldn't be much of a copywrite issue then - obviosuly the towers would look into it as we don't want em getting into any more legal troubles!

I think a recipe book is a brill idea. I too like to cook healthy meals for my little one, but after a while I get stuck in a rut and end up doing things like oven chips and soup. If you have it all down in front of you, like 'this is what you do for breakfast/dinner/tea on day 1, this is what you do on day 2' etc then it will be easier to plan ahead and get the ingredients.
Another thing is, it could be all recipes that mners have thought up themselves so there wouldn't necesserily be a copyright issue.

I think there is scope for loads of books from Mumsnet. The thread a few months back where you just came on and ranted was fabulous and worthy of a wall in the Tate Modern. I saved it to look at from time to time as it has me in stitches and totally sums up life as a parent

Well it's out of print now, it was published about 7 yrs ago. And don't want to link for rl/privacy reasons iyswim. It wasn't hugely sucessful but it was a good little book and it started me writing about food professionally.
Basically, I know how to put a book together(as do the folk at mumsnet towers) and I know how to write recipes so as that they are doable by ordinary people.
I also did a nutrition course and have writtena fair few pieces on childhood nutrition and fussy eaters and school lunches and that type of thing.

I would love to work on a mumsnet recipe book and I'm sure it would be a goer.

WW - yes that was exactly my thoughts, I'd love to feed the boy ghood food which is cheap on a budget but acan also be made posher for guests iycwim. althou ther's the copy write aspect - my logic was who better than mums to talk/advice on whwat to cook for your children - like a heniz mums own but in book form. and as u say could includ packed lunches etc.

is there a mumsnet handbook? Like the bible of motherhood. Light hearted tips like the tip of the day one about not giving children shapr pointy things to play with. as well as "The Cake" and breastfeeding support, etc

There are loads, surely? I guess the market would bear more, but I don't think it's going to be a USP.

I think this was suggested a while ago when the second book came out, and there was quite a lot of support so it might do well. I think it would be good.

Anyone got a recipe for homemade Fruit Shoots?
