So, as you've noticed we got a new bunch of people supplying us with ads on a kind of loop if we don't sell the space. Probably time for a discussion on what we can live with and what we can't. Especially as I'm at a wedding tomorrow and then on hols for 2 weeks and won't have to be involved .
So tell us who you a) dislike b) can't bear c) veto or you're off.

Oh, I hat fruit shoots too. But, if it brings you money I could live with it.

Oh, and it would be really nice when you design the site if you could remember that many of us are at work skiving... I mean taking a short break. So, popups could be detrimental to my career progression... of course if I was really worried about that I wouldn't be sitting here typing on mumsnet in the first place.

Thanks for the input everyone - we've said no to Macdonalds fyi.

So our current status on ads is: no formula milk ads, no Nestle, no porn, no political, no Macdonalds and no Fruit Shoots (just a hunch, that one ).
We also say no to pop ups but will allow the occasional overlay so long as you have to click to make it happen and it's strictly limited to one showing a day. (There's a Renault one of that ilk coming soon, and we'll see how that goes and review if it proves to be a pain).
Do keep letting us know if there's anything else you have strong feelings about.

Wouldn't bother me either way tbh. I can't see how it is any more or less in keeping with Mumsnet than say, O2... and if it brings in much needed cash, I say bring it on... (and mine's a big mac and fries, ta Justine).

one thing i do find is that some pages take a while to load is that because of the ads? or just awful ntl

I think people are too precious about 'their' mumsnet. Its a parenting site that needs funding, better to be funded by lucrative companies that we can all sneer about 10cms further down in active convos. I don't care about the adverts, not a jot, i have never paid attention to them, i come here to read posts which largely means scrolling down so the adverts are never really in view. I think its great that mumsnet ask but i hate it when people say they don't feel it reflects mumsnet, some of us do go to mcdonalds you know.

s'funny, i remember the last time you checked with us, and 99% of us incl me said 'any old thing is fine' and then the formula row happened and I must say I was upset at it too because marketing is just too subtle these days. Any old 'Beer. Gets You Drunk.' advert feels OK but the 'Join the Ancient British Tradition of Drunkenness Appreciation Society and get free pork scratchings tokens when you sign up a friend' campaigns are hard to take IMO.

I would find it very hard to cope with an advert for the Daily Mail, tbh. But my inability to cope is not a reason not to take their money.

I think politics is probably a no no because it could be bad for business for MN to be seen to be taking a side. Probably best to stay out of it.

I don't mind at all (apart from the ones you already have a policy against - no porn/political etc). I just figure that I don't have to click on them and if it means the funds keep MN up and running then great.

Not a fan of McDs, no advert will make me go there. Would rather not have to look at the golden huge buttocks when I log on here.

I mind if you market playboy or bratz to little girls (and/or her parents). I don't mind if you sell cars of any kind -- but by God CountessDracula does so you better not do it.

For the most part, you can market what you like if it helps to support mumsnet.

it would be nicer if mn could keep mcds ads out of the site, it just doesn't seem like the right place.
