So many posts on here doing what MN have asked us not to do. Please, guys, don't mention what we have been asked not to mention, it's the least we can do. MN Towers are going to have enough on their hands without having to watch and delete all our posts

This is just so . I am really sorry that people at MNHQ have missed out on precious time with their new babies because of this . I think mumsnet is a wonderful, diverse place where we all enjoy a healthy debate. If it wasn't for mumsnet I would still be in a deep depression and felt I had no-one to talk to. I think it is ridiculous that the very existence of such an amazing, supportive place be threatened because of this business.

What a sad day for freedom of speech, mumsnet and parents.
On a brighter note though, I am looking forward to the backlash in the press. I'm thinking, Womans Hour R4, Richard and Judy, The Wright Stuff, ALL the newspapers and every womans magazine that is on the shelves. The researchers and reporters for all these shows and publications don't need to be contacted as I can assure you that mumsnet is on their research radar, they are ALL looking for interesting stories, EVERY day. It is only a matter of time....

Really sad this has cut into your maternity leave, precious time taken away from you. Speechless about the rest of it.

Blimey ! I have not entered into debates on that subject as I have never read the books but I just wanted to shout up in support of Mumsnet and any other such forum which provides support, advice, friendships & laughs to those that read & contribute.

She can't do you for sending a link to the mumsnet statement of course not. I would assume it wouldn't be wise to accompany it with your own thoughts though, unless you egt them checked by a libel lawyer first of all! The libel law seems very complicated.

Just wanted to add my support on this too. I feel totally shocked that one person could do so much damage to something valued by so many .

Even dh, who at the best of times tolerates my MN addiction, had a little look at the letter that MNHQ have posted (he is a lawyer). He reckons they are caught between a rock and a hard place here, which is a shame because he loves a good ruck and would have quite happily volunteered to pitch in and help.

I am sad for Carrie and Justine and their lack of maternity leave due to this too. I hope you two manage to get a bit of time off now that there is hopefully an end to this saga .

Yep! Apologies MN - shouldn't have posted that but am so cross for you and all of us who have posted on GF in the past. Many of whom have come here asking for advice regarding GF's methods from others who have used them with excellent effect. A shame that they won't be able to do this now. disbelieve at this notice. As has been said it's just people chatting like in a pub but only more honest on many occassions thanks to the fact no-one knows you if you don't want them to. MN is and has been a life-saver to so many they can't shut it down.

And I agree with you that quite apart from MN being fantastic, this raises fundamental issues around free speech and the fact that the law hasn't caught up with the internet revolution. If you decide to take it on, I'm good for a tenner for your legal fund, or I can make some badly painted placards to be attached to buggies for when we take to the streets.
