possibly, but technically we won't have cost it (if I don't give it a gender it can't assume I'm talking about it) anything, because even if people send back their books, they've already paid for them so no revenue is lost so that's not a valid legal argument

Had a thought re: sending books to publisher. Although on the surface it seems like a good way to protest, would it not give she who must not be named a way to say "yes - mumsnet cost me X amount of revenue" - i.e. it makes the financial damage more tangible. I'd be wary of causing more trouble for mumsnet, tbh.

Have signed the petition. Feel quite strongly about it. You have to stand up to bullies whoever they are.

Hang on sorry I just read the top of the page it said that my signature had been registered and would I like to donate. So no donation is needed.

true SecurMummy but by the same token the individuals shouldn't be acountable either. if you went into a chat room and had a discussion about an unnamed "expert" its lawyers could come after you as an individual too.

Sorry to be picky after your efforts! I thought that the point was that the third party (organiser/host etc) should not be accountable for an individuals expressed view? I think that the wording you have used sounds a bit like (to me anyway) we are asking for anyine to be able to say anything without ever getting in trouble for it! I am not sure that is a great long term idea - after all, we may not abuse it, but I am sure someone on the internet somewhere would!
